Tony Basillio confirmed - Kevin Ware won't be released

Aren't we all jumping to a lot of conclusions. No one here even knows how upset Ware is about the situation. It has been like media silence with regards to recruits (Ware and Jones). We do know that Martin will meet with these guys at the weekend. These issues will most likely be resolved then. No reason to get in a little tantrum.

Anyone who follows basketball recruiting knows how important AAU relationships are. If you all really think CCM is willing to jeopardize his relationships with those teams over one player, you're kidding yourself. Given his background and knowledge, I'm sure Martin is quite competent and ethical. I am confident CCM will make the right decisions.

So, from what I'm reading, people who are for releasing Ware are the same one's that say we made a solid hire?? So, what is Ware missing, that the people who think this is a solid hire are getting??

Why should Ware have to honor a commitment that his coach couldn't even make?

Where was Pearl at when he got caught for the bump rule? I suppose it was a coincidence he was on the campus of a guy who shredded hiim for not releasing Tyler Smith and told multiple people in the basketball community that he'd do what he could to make sure Pearl never got one of his guys.

Yet, Tyler played ball here at UT in the end. I'm not buying the rock star AAU coach crap. There maybe some bad apples in the AAU circuit, but any AAU coach that gets in the way of a kid bettering themselves is shat in my eyes.

And I'm saying that we can't sit here and just try to be sympathetic to a kid that thought a coaching change wouldn't happen. Crap happens, and sometimes you have to roll with it.
Imagine if Tennessee hired Mike Leach after the 2008 season, and Montario Hardesty wasn't given a release. What the hell is he supposed to do? Because his football career likely just went down the drain.

If they wanted to leave, absolutely. Last time I checked, the 13th Amendment pretty well covered the issue.

I'm not saying that. I'm saying that if they asked for their release after being on campus, would you have given it to them, just to save face in recruiting their school again??

I actually think Cuanzo Martin will let Ware out of his LOI if Ware truly doesn't want to play for him.

I guess he could have manned up and done what he could to help the team. Sorry, this whole "I'm quitting if I don't get my way" crap is one of the reasons America is going downhill.

In the players' mind, this is exactly what the University is doing by refusing to release him.

Just saying, you don't know that. He wants out of UT because Pearl isn't here. Pretty sure that is the safe judgment to make in this case.

No, I'd have released them because I don't give a damn about having guys around who don't want to be here.

I was making a general statement. However, if you want to look at Ware, why would he ask out of his LOI if he didn't feel somewhere else would be better for him?

Yeah, he just lost out on the ability to make millions and continue to do what he probably has always loved doing for a living, but he should just 'man up.'

If he's that good, he can suck it up and play like he's capable of. That's what will earn him money, not transferring.

I know they are out there hat, I'm just saying that if they play hardball like that, it can backfire on getting kids to play for them as well. It works both ways.
Every big time AAU program in America is laughing at the idea of them having troubles getting players because they freeze a coach out. Hell, B listers like Keith Easterwood think it's hilarious.
