You obviously have precious little idea how basketball recruiting works. When Cuonzo Martin is standing outside the gym where the Atlanta Celtics are practicing wondering why he just got thrown the f*** out, we'll see how big a deal he thinks it is.

So, basically we don't have to make a kid honor an LOI, because we are afraid some dirty AAU coaches may not let Martin in the gym?? Am I interpreting that right??

Bruce was the most prominent emissary of the University. The act of playing for UT was reliant on this fact. Bruce didn't do facts well. Good luck to you, Mr. Ware, sorry we wasted your time.

Nothing dirty about it at all. AAU coaches are the gatekeepers for most players. If a school wants to act like this is 1820s and make kids come begging to massa for a release, that's simply a school they won't let through the gates. Playing tough goes both ways.

Cuonzo Martin cannot win at Tennessee if he can't recruit in Atlanta. He can't recruit in Atlanta if he pisses off the AAU coaches down here. It's pretty simple. At some point you're cutting off your nose to spite your face.

And I'm saying that we can't sit here and just try to be sympathetic to a kid that thought a coaching change wouldn't happen. Crap happens, and sometimes you have to roll with it.

It's all about reputation (in the eyes of the HS coaches) when recruiting. If they don't like you, they'll do their best to get in the way of you recruiting their players. Not letting someone out his LOI can have that effect.

Where was Pearl at when he got caught for the bump rule? I suppose it was a coincidence he was on the campus of a guy who shredded hiim for not releasing Tyler Smith and told multiple people in the basketball community that he'd do what he could to make sure Pearl never got one of his guys.

So, from what I'm reading, people who are for releasing Ware are the same one's that say we made a solid hire?? So, what is Ware missing, that the people who think this is a solid hire are getting??
