Tony Dungy Stepping down

You clearly have me confused with some other idiot, because I don't remember talking about Stoops at all recently. That said, Stoops wins conference championships, which is the measure of a college coach. Dungy loses playoff games, which is the measure of a pro coach.

your right, i think it was bigpapavol. however, i don't think that he is an idiot.

I agree the Colts having to travel was stupid. That said, winning isn't supposed to be easy. The Steelers were pretty good in 2005. However, the Colts were better. The Colts were just as capable of beating that Seahawks team. They also won like 13 games that year and were able to beat the Steelers in the regular season. Even with the insanely horrible call overruling Troy Palomalu's INT, the Colts still couldn't win.

i disagree. i agree, that was horrible.

The 2005 Colts team should have won the Super Bowl. They were that good, and then just fell apart in the playoffs.

I'd say at no point in time has Stoops had the best team in college football. Dungy has had the best team in the NFL a few times and come up short.

really? nevertheless, he has had the better football team a few times in that string of bowl losses that he owns.

seriously, i enjoy debating with you guys. no name calling or anything, that's nice. your opinions are respected. i'm done. i got to get to the game. go vols!

I can agree with that. I'm just saying, even though they've come up short in a couple of NC games, I don't think it was because his teams underperformed against inferior competition.

Anyway, I think the 2005 Colts was the best team Dungy ever fielded. They lost their first playoff game to a team they'd beaten in the regular season by 3 scores. Without a huge 4th quarter rally the final score would have been 21-3. That's pathetic.

is bob stoops a great college coach?

Eh, it's apples and oranges. In college, you win championships before you play the bowl games. Unless you're in the so-called title game, the postseason is basically an exhibition.

Six conference championships in 10 years makes you a great college coach, but clearly that's going to be qualified with an asterisk until Stoops does something to turn this horrible run of failure in bowl games around. Unfortunately for Dungy, winning the AFC South doesn't really mean anything like winning the Big 12 does.

I guess the Eagles and Cardinals were better teams than the Giants and Panthers this year too. Ridiculous.

yeah ok. tell every vol fan that you see that the 1999 fiesta bowl was an exhibition. you don't win national championships for winning exhibition games. exactly but many posters here praise stoops name. it should be pretty much the same thing.

i apologize. i read your post wrong.

I didn't mean what you were saying didn't make any sense. I just included your questions to get a better view of the inconsistency in what he was saying.

i think the ravens were a better team than the titans, the giants were better than the eagles, and the panthers were better than the cardinals. how can that possibly be inconsistent? the best team doesn't always win, just the best team on that day. maybe, i just need a better view of my inconsistency because i can't see it.
