Top 3 worst plays in UT history

1. 13 men on field in 2010 LSU game.
2. Lincoln kicking it into fat boy Cody's gut in 09 Alabama game.
3. Ainge throwing it over his own shoulder from our own endzone vs. LSU.

So the "worst plays in UT history" - a program that's played around what, 116 seasons of the sport - are only from the last 8-9 years....

Since most people don't live to 116. Yes, most people are just going of there lifetime experience.

Most people on the board are in their teens then I take it?

Was more getting at how most seem to only/just be going off of most recent bad memories to pick "worst of all-time"

UT gives up 4 and 10 to Jamarcus Russell with less than 1 minutes at Neyland

4 and 3 against UCLA and Kiffins calls a run at home

Mizzou is 4th and 10 and scores a TD.... Dooley's fate sealed

Some around here might consider that last one a part of a "best plays" list.

The Memphis State kick-off return in 1996.
The blocked FG by Bama in 1990.
The 4th down play where UF scored on the opening drive in 1996.

I'm surprised it took 3 pages for someone to mention Wuerffel to Reidel Anthony on 4th and 11.

LW,

I was sitting there in section DD row 1 and I'll never forget it. Once UF scored I looked at the odds and said Spurrier would rather risk 20 yards (net of a punt) on the 1st drive of the game and either score or make Fulmer Sh@t his pants. BALLGAME!

I was sitting in Section NN, top row right under the the "S" in the old V-O-L-S signs, thinking WTF is Spurrier doing? :)

That wasn't Foster, it was a FB screen, can't remember his name. But it was a great call though.
Fosters fumble against AL,that went for a touch back instead of a touchdown

I forgot the quarterback, it against I believe LSU, threw the ball while being tackled in the end zone and was picked off.

Running a play right before half time and bray broke his thumb...

I'm going by plays I've seen in person. It's always worse when you are there....

1) Inky Johnson's injury.
2) Gaffney's catch (or not)
3) Ainge's pick 6 in SECCG

Honorable mention from games I didn't attend: UGA's hobnail boot and Memphis kick return for TD.

That was Cory Anderson.

This is one of my favorite errors regarding UT football...people who don't know who fumbled that ball, then incorrectly use it as a reason to hate Foster

We still did not lose that game.

Anybody remember the illegal hands to the face to Chris Leak in the Florida game? We had intercepted the ball at the 15. I believe gaither was the one that intercepted it. It was at Neyland and they ended up winning the national championship that year.

As far as the ainge injury.... Cutcliff did the same with him running a draw against south Carolina.

Here's my three in order:

1. Illegal hands against Florida
2. Rocky block/ Anderson's fumble through the endzone in 2005.
3. Clausens interception against LSU in the championship game.

I'll never forget that play! Terrible call and cost us the game and maybe our own NC? It was Marvin Mitchell with the pick six and I believe it was the DT from HI with the foul. Sick!

Ruined a chance at playing for the SEC title, but I don't think one can really say for a national title...the later injuries would have still prevented it going that far

Probably not near the top but the first thing that popped to my head was that ridiculous punt return by arkansas a few years ago.

Here's one that needs mentioning: Gary Wright's missed field goal in the 1966 Bama game in the rain in Knoxville, TN. Cost UT the game 11-10 and Bama went on to win the NC that year.

UT had just allowed Alabama to score on the previous possession to go up by the eventual final margin and then UT drove it the length of the field to set up Gary Wright for a field goal from extra point distance with only seconds remaining in the game. It was from the right hash mark. Some who were there may claim he made that kick and the refs stole it. Either way, that was a tough loss.

The entire second half of the lsu 2001 sec champ game.

Ainge's pick six against lsu in sec champ game

13 men on field against lsu

Using lsu I believe you can chart UTs decline over the past decade

Lol. Using COACHES! go Vols!
