Top 5 all-time QBs (SIAP)

Where did I ever say that? You're just reading what you want to. It's kind of sad really.

Wins, playoff record, stats, QBR, TD/INT ratio, etc all play a part. That's all I've ever said. I don't know why this is so hard for you. If Super Bowl wins only matter to Brady, why do I pick Joe Montana as my pick for best QB ever? If Super Bowl wins are all that matters, why is Terry Bradshaw not even in my top ten? Come on man.

Yeah, that still doesn't sound like an equation. That sounds like a combination of a wide variety of factors weighted purely subjectively. But yet you're the one accusing me of bias.

You're trolling. There's no other answer.

So you're upset that a question asking for a subjective list is determined by subjectively-weighted factors?

No. I never made any conclusions. I asked some questions and volfanbill deemed I was biased for asking them. So I think it is perfectly reasonable to ask him to demonstrate his objectivity.

We were having this discussion at work. Assuming Peyton wins another SB, I think it will be hard not to put him at the top. Here's my list RIGHT NOW:

1. Favre
2. Unitas
3. Manning
4. Montana
5. Marino

Also considered: Elway, Bradshaw, Brady, Moon, Tarkenton, etc.

Thoughts?

Unitas was my hero for my entire life, but Peyton is better. Favre is maybe top 5.

The having to have so many rings is getting completely out of hand in my opinion. Why are we giving individuals credit for team accomplishments? It is an indicator of a good QB but it its not the only one. Manning and Marino changed the QB position and were feared more than any other QBs so they are the best in my opinion.

1.Manning
2.Marino
3.Montana
4.Brady
5.Farve

Everyone knows who is the greatest QB of all time. The problem is everyone has their own opinion of who that is.

I am not a big list guy but BFavre doesnt belong in that company - he was a turnover machine and never understood risk/reward - he is basically Tony Romo

not even close to the caliber of those other QB's you list

1. Tony Romo wishes he was in the same conversation as Brett Favre.
2. Brett Favre was high risk-high reward, but his reward far outweighed his risk. He is one of the best with the game on the line, as I previously stated.
3. He owns every career record. Saying he doesn't belong in the conversation is moronic at best.

Manning
Montana
Brady
Marino
Young

Put those an any order depending on my mood. This is also a listing of the ones I have seen play. There is no way I could rank Unitas, or Tarkenton, or (may dads favorite player) Archie Manning.

As far as SB rings go, I don't think it should count. Marino is my favorite player of all time and he never had a good defense or a good running back to hand it off to. Neither of those are his fault. SB's are won by team effort.

The "having to have a super bowl ring" is ridiculous. Too much emphasis on the ring. Just like needing a "major win" in golf to be considered to be a great golfer. Look at Andy North, he won 2 US Opens and really hes not considered a great golfer at all.

He almost choked out the one at Cherry Hills in Denver as I recall.

Where is Otto Graham on the list? In 10 years as qb for the Cleveland Browns, he took them to 10 league championship games in the late 40's and 50's. He won 7 of 10. He holds the record for the highest winning percentage of any qb ever 114-20-4, about 83%. He still holds the record for the highest yards per pass attempt of any qb ever. Highest winning percentage, highest yards per attempt. He belongs on there somewhere.
