Tracking Saban's Replacement Thread

Correct, but you’re also describing Nick Saban when he was hired at LSU and urban when he was hired at Florida. Neither of those guys had any connection whatsoever to the south or the SEC. Good coaches will find a way to be successful no matter where they coach.
True and by all accounts, DeBoer is a very good coach.

My opinion was IU should have let Tom Allen go 2 years ago and hired DeBoer as HC when he was the OC.

Nobody does coaching searches like UT. That said, I hope this is an equally dumpster fire moment for them and those inbred fans burn it to the ground.

I wonder if Jimbo is up for the challenge to redeem himself?

Jimmy Sexton has been on campus all day, they already have someone on the hook. This might be settled by bedtime.

I really think they are like us...thinking "oh we are a great job, great facilities, tons of money, we can get anyone we want..."

And the reality is, no, they can't. If we couldn't attract a high level coach after Phil and Pat, they aren't gonna get one after the GOAT in college football.

Horrible hire. Guy has zero ties to the south. Would not be successful there.

I hope it's true.

Uninspired hire, if it happens. Nice coach, I'm sure--but there are a lot of them out there. But as a Vol fan, it would make me happy as he's not going to move the needle much for bama, and that would be a good thing for us.

If you’ve seen the movie End Of Days, there is a scene where a large group of men were all feverishly working around the clock in a secret room in Vatican City. They were monitoring childbirths around the world, working the phones and staring at computer screens, searching for a specific baby to be born that would fulfill a certain prophecy. Such a room exists on the Alabama campus, where a similar scenario has been playing out since last night. They will leave no stone unturned, and spare no resource.

And yet, those in the room on the Alabama campus will be cast into the the fire and there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth, for they will ultimately discover that another Saban does not exist. Especially in the new world order of college football in 2024.

So they didn’t interview coaches, just interviewed Sexton to see which of his talent would accept job and at what price?

Thats one way to speed the process up.

Lane train , this is the one he’s been waiting for. But who knows , it’s a wacky 🌍 of college football now.

Alabama is not going to let the big chair be empty for long.

Too much riding on this.

Truth be told, I'm a bit surprised there hasn't been an announcement yet.
