If you’ve seen the movie End Of Days, there is a scene where a large group of men were all feverishly working around the clock in a secret room in Vatican City. They were monitoring childbirths around the world, working the phones and staring at computer screens, searching for a specific baby to be born that would fulfill a certain prophecy. Such a room exists on the Alabama campus, where a similar scenario has been playing out since last night. They will leave no stone unturned, and spare no resource.I don’t care who they hire, it’ll be a step down from having Saban there. I just hope this turns into a soap opera coaching search so that garbage fan base can feel what we felt so many times in the last decade. wishful thinking though…
I am guessing that bama will have a new coach by end of next week, maybe first of the week. This was not a surprise and I am certain they already had contact and talks with their short list of guys. And, with the tradition and rrsources there, whoever they call is going to talk. I don't think they have to break the bank for anyone either.
Hopefully they decide to hire a complete clown so as to get the "you don't wanna be the guy who followed a legend" out of the way, firing him after 1 season, losing countless recruits, and it spirals them into the pit of despair that lasts a generation.
And the most years the undefeated and 1 loss ACC teams will force out a 3 loss SEC team and most likely in scenarios of multiple 2 loss SEC teams the 1 loss ACC will get a nod for $ parity.Good counter-point. ACC basically comes down to FSU and Clemson and the occasional rabble rouser like Duke, UNC, Wake Forest...that in mind it might be best for Dabo to stick it out at Clemson.
Friend, I appreciate many of your posts here. Always look forward to getting your thoughts.
But I have to take exception with a couple of things in this post:
1. "3rd best record of all time...at Ole Miss," is kinda like saying, "third-tallest midget," "or third-prettiest girl in the ugly girl competition."
2. We're talking about replacing Saban. Getting a team to "a bowl game every year" seems to be far below the needed credentials.
3. Saying Kiffin "is an NFL coach," glosses over the fact that (a) he wasn't for long, because (b) he got fired. Sorta like saying "he was the head coach at USC" without mentioning they were so disappointed in him they fired him at an airport and didn't even give him a ride home.
4. Finally, "made FAU a powerhouse," is kinda way over the top, too. I don't recall FAU taking on and beating any top 25 team, much less rolling over a bunch of top 10s (that's what I think when I hear "college football powerhouse").
In short, I think you've significantly over-stated Kiffin's accomplishments.
I do agree that Kiffin is a wily recruiter, and will play the NIL like a violin if he gets to a place with big NIL $$$. But I don't see any reason to fear him, in spite of that. Bama is not an NIL goldmine. We (and a lot of other programs) can out resource them every day of the week.
And he's not that great a head coach. He won't establish a new dynasty there, or anywhere else he goes. Expect it to turn out kinda like it did for him at USCw, maybe drawn out a little further because he would start with all Saban's amassed roster talent.
*shrug* I personally would kinda like to see Kiffin there. We'd whup their butts more often than they'd whup ours, I'm confident.
Go Vols!
Rarely have I seen a more accurate GIF. lolThe tides have officially turned.

I think he waits a year then goes to Florida to wait for the guy following Nicky to fail so those people who don’t want him at Alabama have to get on their knees and beg.I wonder if Kiffin would leave. I read where his daughter asked him last year to stay at ole miss for her and he said he would. Wouldn’t be the first time he’s gone back on his word, but I think he’s matured a little.
This is fun.
Fair enough, Gandalf....if we had no history with Kiffin, could you honestly say you would have the same opinion of him?
It will indeed be a hard pill to swallow for them.Seriously. I've been predicting this Alabama meltdown for ten years. There's no replacing the greatest modern college coach. Their fanbase is fat and happy, and filled with entire generation of young fans who have NEVER known anything less than total dominance. Their "worst" years were 10 win seasons. Their entire program will be looking for another walk-off grand slam coaching hire -- And. It. Will. Not. Come.
They don't even know how to be hungry for football excellence. They've never gone without it. But the buffet is now closed and they are about to starve. They will have to make excuses for losses. They will have to justify blowout defeats. They will have to rationalize their growing failure. Seventeen years of coping debt, and it's all coming due. And I am here for every second of it.
