Tracking Saban's Replacement Thread

Why leave Notre Dame? People don't want to hear it but the Gump job isn't that attractive at this moment. Why would any coach in a good job want to jump into that frying pan?
ND, with the 12 team playoff and being overrated from the start of every year, has one of the easiest routes into the playoffs now.

It has "recruits itself" status, a huge fanbase, tradition, and a pretty easy path to being top 12 every year. It's a great job for a coach.

Please let it be Dabo. No grasp of NIL or transfer portal plus we owe that weasel some more ass whoopings.
Wanting Bama to hire a 2 time national champion seems pretty weird. Dabo has his warts, but he's proven he can coach and recruit with the best of them.

Anyone find it odd timing that Washington's WR and RB chose today to declare for the draft?

Anyone know if they were likely to declare anyways?

Not with his portal views, unless he changes his stance. I know, most players are recruits from HS, but even Bama and Clemson lost key people to the portal.

Dabo, as far as I know, isn't plugging holes at Clemson via the portal as aggressively as most successful coaches.

Phil Fulmer won a title and almost played for another one and this was in a tougher conference. When you lose it, you lose it. I’m not saying that Dabo has lost it but he doesn’t seem to have a finger on the pulse of the direction the game is headed.

I get that. He's still bringing in strong recruiting classes, and, for the most part, is keeping the players around.

Like us, he was a South Carolina win away from the CFP a year ago. This year was a little rough, but even in an off year he won 9 games.
