Tracking Saban's Replacement Thread

The ONLY thing that keeps me from a complete Grinch grin in this is that as names start getting eliminated, the chance of Josh being called increases.

If Kiffin and Dabo are really not on the "In case of emergency: offer one of these guys" list, I can't make myself think they'd actually promote Rees before they'd call Josh.
They are not going to offer Heupel

This. Brian Daboll and Bill O Brien would be ahead of Heupel.
I'm not saying Heupel is at the top, but as those ahead drop out, the chance of them trying to get an SEC coach AND some of their players as a bonus has to be a "thing" now.

Lincoln Riley led the way with this tactic. It's about more than the coach, perhaps, these days.

Good Question. I honestly don't know. Norvell, Lanning and Sark have all said no. Deboer possibly too. Rees, Franklin?? Helluva ego shots to the gumps if they get down to 5th or 6th choice.
Naper could be available if asked? Florida probably would not even charge him his buyout.

Going from starting your NCAA head coaching career at Fresno State during the COVID season to becoming the guy in charge of Alabama less than four years later is truly absurd.

Kiffin is what the fan base wants if Sark is out. and kiffy is the only coach who would say YES if asked.

Im hoping for Deboer though. I dont think he has really proven that he can handle it in the SEC grind so hey may or may not work out IMO.

Good for them. But this has nothing to do with Tennessee football. This thread should "move along" to the Around The NCAA forum.
Brave, brother, I think you're wrong.

Who becomes Bama's next head coach has TONS to do with the Tennessee football program. Most especially if they remain one of our permanent rivals in the SEC.

But even without that, given our long history as rivals, and what the TSIO means...yeah, it belongs here.

Just like any thread about Spurrier's coaching future back in the 1990s. Or anything about Kirby Smart in the next decade.

Go Vols!

It’s January my guy. What breaking Tennessee football topic should we discuss instead? Before Tennessee started winning some games the past 2 years, coaching search season was more entertaining than the actual season.
