Trade Deadline/Rumors thread

Trading BJ Upton would be quite the smart move by the Rays, regardless of who they received in return.

He needs a change of scenery. Their stud prospect is ready. They aren't going to make the playoffs. It makes too much sense.

What would you want from Tampa for Rasmus?

I'd rather trade Rasmus for Hanley Ramirez. We need a short a lot more than a CF. We have people who can play CF. But really lacking at shortstop. And the Marlins are tired of HR kinda like the Cards are tired of Colby.

Shields.

Throw in a B-prospect if need be. It's workable.

Now, do I expect this to happen? Not really, but it would work out for both sides.

I keep mentioning it because I continually hear that the Rays are interested in Rasmus. TIFWIW

The idea that you could trade Colby Rasmus for Hanley Ramirez is the dumbest thing posted on this web site to date.

It could work but the Rays would be wanting more than Rasmus and a B type prospect. They are wanting a deal similar to what the Rockies are looking for for Ubaldo.

I didn't mean straight up, smart asss. And I was just stating that if we're gonna go after something go for a need. And I didn't say it would happen. Chill a little.

And don't be surprised if the Marlins trade Hanley. Last night driving home from the airport I heard Jeff Conine talking about how he'd trade HR.

Mo is adament that he's not giving up Tier A prospects. I've jsut started looking into it, but if they want what the Rockies want then no thanks.

If you are lacking a shortstop why would you want Hanley Ramirez?

I will be absolutely shocked if he is traded.

Actually wouldn't surprise me if they traded Hanley in the next year or so. He's scheduled to make 46.5M over the next three years and he wants out of Florida.
