Transfer Portal 22-23

I hate to bring up the negatives, but how many times she missed easy layups, how many times she could t catch a pass or had the ball snatched out of her hands by small guards?

I hear you, but in her last fully healthy season, she was in the 96th percentile in the NCAA for points per play and points per shot attempt, 97th percentile for effective field goal %, and 99th percentile for overall field goal %. Last season, Striplin was in the 90th percentile for FG% and EFG%, but no other post player came anywhere close to Tamari's numbers. Compare that to say, Kamilla Cardoso or Angel Reese, and and a healthy Tamari's still ahead of both of them in most of those categories.

For turnovers, in 2021-22, Tamari averaged 2.6 TOs per 40 minutes and an 18.6% TO rate. Compare that to Hollingshead (3.2 and 18.5%), Striplin (2.4 and 16.0%), and Franklin (2.5 and 16.6%), and it's not really any worse than what we had last year. Again, to compare to Cardoso or Reese, Cardoso is at 2.3 and 11.6%, and Reese is on par with 2.6 TOs per 40 minutes though only had a 10.0% TO rate. Our posts in general seem to have a higher TO rate but it seems unfair to fault Tamari, as it seems to be more of a problem with the system, or as others have noted, how our guards make entry passes.

I won’t compare Key with Reese because Key is not in her league, but as for Cardoso I would say she plays big and Key doesn’t, just watch how she keeps the ball high and can catch passes, and then watch how Key always brings the ball down and drops it or gets it snatched away by guards.

Can't compare them because they play different positions

Who is left in the portal that we may have a chance with and would actually make us better? I've tried to find an updated list of WBB transfer portal players but haven't seen one. Seems like we need more, but looking like we won't get more.

The last time Key went head-to-head with Cardoso, Key had 10 points, 10 Blocks and 7 rebounds in 26 minutes compared to Cardoso who had 2 points, 2 blocks and 8 rebounds in 20 minutes. Key went 4-7 from the floor in comparison to Cardoso's 1 for 4. Actual numbers matter. South Carolina as a whole only Shot 32% against us with Key on the floor. The only person that shot above 50% individually in that game was Tamari. That game also included Boston who didn't break the 50% threshold.

Horston is exactly why rebounding will be the problem. That to me was the best part of her game. She was certainly huge in a lot of games and not so good in a few othersdue to turnovers. I think we added more efficient scoring more points scored on the same amount of shots. Both Walker and Jordan had very low scoring efficiency ratings. Wells has a very high efficiency rating have to see if it holds next season. I'm looking at maybe five or more less turnovers a game. I am hoping that Coach Kellie will hold true to her last media interview that we are going to add more rebounding.

rebounding is like defense,,,it has to be an innate passion.

and it takes homework...like, studying the tendencies of a shooter. e.g..does the shooter have a tendency to miss short/long/left/right? Does the shooter shoot with high/low arc.

and in game, you have to make snap decisions on the "shot",,,e.g...do I boxout the person next to me or go to where the rebound looks like it will be?

I like rebounding bc,, it either gives your team another shot or takes one away from the opponents.

This is one of my biggest pet pieves,,,missed "bunnies"
I truly believe they miss them bc when they practice layups they don't practice them "game-speed" in their drills....so when they get into a game and have to navigate them at a higher speed,,,thus

It is posted a couple pages back in this thread. I think there are still a lot of players that could help us. We just need them to commit. Page 102

Cardoso was a backup, u need to compare Key to Boston for a fair comparison, but I’m saying Cardoso plays big in the paint, and Key should play a similar game.

Coulibaly and Donarski with Coulibaly the only one we still have a chance with.

You have every excuse when proven wrong, at this point just admit that it is personal, we get it you don't like Tamari and wish she played for someone else. You claim to be a fan but have yet to compliment anything the team has done or is trying to do, everything is negative. Give it a break, it's April!

His dislike for Key has been called out before. He says nothing but negative stuff about her. Not sure why he doesn’t like her.

I didn’t say anything about matchups, all I said was she plays big and keeps the ball high, and I want Key to do the same. I wasn’t proven wrong on that part, all the points I made were true.

I have nothing against her, I’m just giving my opinion on what I think she could do to be better, or should I be like most people and think she doesn’t have to improve on anything?

She isn't Morrow, HVL, Dornaski, Couilbaly, or anyone else that highly ranked in the ESPN transfer rankings so some of them wont want her.
Gustin is a ball magnet. She’s an absolute beast on the boards. for her size, she just knows where to position herself to get the board over taller girls. i’ve watched her play quite a bit when they had a good team. she’s had to carry the load this year.

I notice people like to attack the messenger but not the message, tell me one thing I’ve said about her game that’s not true?
no one is going to fact check everything thing you say, it’s not worth it. BUT, the way you constantly come for key is tiring. let her play a season healthy. dear god, let the season start before you start trashing her every other post.
