Transfer Portal 22-23

She isn't Morrow, HVL, Dornaski, Couilbaly, or anyone else that highly ranked in the ESPN transfer rankings so some of them wont want her.
Actually I just checked her out real quick and she would be a good pickup for us, she fights for position, has good hands, finishes at the rim consistently with both hands and moves pretty good. Oh and it does look like we are looking at her.

Cardoso was a backup, u need to compare Key to Boston for a fair comparison, but I’m saying Cardoso plays big in the paint, and Key should play a similar game.
You can't compare that, because Boston had to go out on the perimeter to get many of her points. She had to step out because of Tamari's Length. Cardoso cannot do that. Also, if you were to combine Cardoso and Boston's Stats, they played 48 minutes combined for a total of 20 rebounds 2 blocked shots and 18 points. Double tamaris minutes to equal the play of Cardoso and Boston's minutes and she gets 20 points, 20 blocked shots and 14 rebounds. Bottom Line is Cardoso as a back up played 20 + minutes on fresh legs and managed 2 points against Tamari.

So that means the point I was making is not valid, about keeping the ball high and holding onto the ball?

I didn’t say anything about matchups, all I said was she plays big and keeps the ball high, and I want Key to do the same. I wasn’t proven wrong on that part, all the points I made were true.
You compared her to Cardosa and Cardosa's abilities and then when you were shown the statistics of the two your response was she (Cardosa) wasn't a starter and that she should be compared to Boston. I guess you forgot how Kitley could do nothing against TK when they matched up head to head. You didn't watch how well she played against Stati (Georgia), ONO(UConn), Aifuwa (LSU), Charli Collier (Texas), and Cierra Johnson(Texas A&M) did you? Go look at how she performed in those games. The only post that has outperformed in head to head matchups have been Boston and Shakira Austin. Again if you don't like (TK) just say that.

Gustin is a ball magnet. She’s an absolute beast on the boards. for her size, she just knows where to position herself to get the board over taller girls. i’ve watched her play quite a bit when they had a good team. she’s had to carry the load this year.
I am on board and wouldn't mind having her here, I've watched a few of her games as well and she is always around the ball.

It is posted a couple pages back in this thread. I think there are still a lot of players that could help us. We just need them to commit. Page 102
I hope we get some more commitments cause all I saw posted when a lot of us was saying we got to have high schoolers was don’t worry about the hs recruiting because we are going to do well in the portal again because of the last portal class.

She must have been doing something against the biggest post dual in the country to even get the 10 points. But I regress; Tamari consistently outplays people her size. She has done it against everyone close to her size the last 2 full seasons healthy and even when she was at half speed against Kitly this past season. With her healthy last season, we had final four potential and the preseason rankings would have been a little more closely aligned. Instead, she couldn't run the court and we listened to the Tennessee "Fans" say she was lazy. Which she is clearly not.

When we were saying that we thought Rickea Jackson was going to the WNBA and that Key was through playing basketball. Now we need about one or two solid players because we got an elite point guard already.

My original post was about what Key needed to improve on, and then someone mentioned the matchup which had nothing to do with what I was saying. So what was the point of mentioning a matchup in the first place? And so u don’t agree that Key should keep the ball high when she’s in the paint so The ball doesn’t get knocked out of her hands?

Every Post should keep the ball high so that the ball isn't knocked out of their hands by smaller guards. That's common knowledge for those who played the game, you played at a high level right?

That wasn't just your argument but if that is the one you want to sell then fine. As we saw this past season, we are far better with her (when healthy) than without her. She changes what offenses can do in the lane at 6'8"! Whether you want to admit it or not.

I agree that with her size she can block shots and make it difficult for them to get paint points, I just want her to get better but ok, let’s just wait until the season and see how she plays in the big games.

Not trying to discredit anyone but, Gustin would be a great fit for the LV...too many of us are looking at the premiere names and forgetting about what would fit...the right puzzle pieces makes Championship teams, not individuals...LVFL 🧡 💙🏀💙🧡

It isn't just about blocking shots, it is an intimidation factor. She makes everyone trying to get to the basket think adjustment on their shot or just don't go into the paint. I don't think there is another player out there that has her Length, instinct or timing that can do on the defensive end what she can do. Part of that is her background in Volley ball. Her mother was a college volley ball player so that may have something to do with it. 119 blocks in a season wipes away 238 points. 7-8 points a game wiped away and then she gets her 10.5 per game. That is about an 18 point swing in a game just from her. That wins a lot of basketball games. To put that in context, Boston led the SEC this year with 73 averaging 26 minutes per game. To think this year Tamari will have Legit backups and can play aggressive. The possibilities.
