OM above us…interesting

I like the way they finished the year and they didn’t have much roster turnover. I think Davis, Scott, Collins, Deans, and Todd-Williams will be very good for them. Getting Igbokwe and Singleton back in the post for them will huge too. I think they have potential to finish even higher.

Not enough size imo. That’s what hurt them against us last season we killed them on second chance points and points in the paint. They didn’t upgrade that part of their game at all.

Kellie has never lost to coach Yo and I don’t think that changes this season. I believe the roster we have coming back is better than what we had last season. Horston was very talented but adding Wells, Spear and getting TK back changes a lot in a positive way for us.

agreed. Only team that i see is a big gap above us is LSU (we still can beat them). SC and Ole Miss don’t scare me.

They got better guard play and wings out of the portal though and they did get better as the year progressed. They took SC to OT and beat Stanford after they lost to Tennessee. Their problem is consistency not lack of height because both Singleton and Igbokwe played very well in those games. They also looked good in that 3x3 competition in terms of chemistry.

I think Tennessee will be very good but I think replacing Horston will be tough considering she was a defender, play maker, rebounder, and scorer for Tennessee. I also question the depth after the starting 5. I think lack of athleticism will hurt but this is all my opinion and I’m sure they will still be top 4 regardless.

Stanford got worse and worse as the year progressed. I don’t think ole miss will be any better than they were last season. Mostly due to a lack of imposing size. If they had picked up a 6’5” player from the portal I’d be singing a different tune.

i think our depth will be solid. Striplin, Puckett, Wynn, Strickland all can give us solid mins off the bench. Plus our starting 5 will be one of the best we have seen in awhile. We will be a better team next year even after losing horston

I’ve said the same in previous posts about our bench, I just don’t see where the points will come from, and that’s besides the athleticism. But I do think we are slightly better with this roster, but if we get one more solid player that can put us over the top.

Can Wynn be a sixth man defensive stopper?

At this point, imo, it's all on how effective Key will be. If she's back to her Jr year, than UT is better. If not, than about the same.

Getting Keys back is huge for the interior defense/rebounding. Getting Wells and Spear > losing Jordy likely. UT will be improved. Don’t forget the schedule will be demonstrably more manageable….lot of weight needs to be placed on that part tbh….but even without that, UT is a better team next year so long as Key comes back to her sophomore level, which as I have said before is most likely. She is a top three 5 in the SEC when healthy.

That’s still a good win especially in Maples which everyone knows is super tough to win. I do the think they needed size and she was banking on Sakima Walker who went to SC so idk what they’ll do. I did see Beyonce’ Bea visited back at the end of April but she’s a 6’1” F so idk if that’ll help much. I just really like the Guard/Wing/ Forwards they brought back and in. Todd-Williams, Scott, Thompson, Davis, and Collins is a very nice group that brings versatility and solid size. I guess we’ll have to see how they do.

I don’t disagree with them being solid. I just think elite speed, height, and athleticism is missing. Hollingshed has it but I’m not sold on the rest and though they’ve played solid up until this point in their careers I think Tennessee needs more to be considered a better team next year imo. They either lack foot speed, athleticism, or overall intangibles to replace what Tennessee lost. Horston played both sides of the ball very well and consistently! And I would add Walker was an above average defender and athlete as well.

Can I downvote this analysis? I’m the biggest SC homer on this site, but even then I see UT is much Improved.

Btw, I am going to enjoy SC being underdogs for the first time in 4 years, no pressure. I expect a rebuilding year but still very competitive, like I said before, 6-10 losses but way better at end of year, the schedule was not ”lightened up” in spite of needing to rebuild, so it will get rough for awhile.

2024 will see a SC team ready to challenge for the crown again, …..I said challenge.

It’s very probable UT LV’s make a run for SEC championship in 2023, LSU will be the prohibitive favorites, no question. But UT will be on their heels, and it should be close. HVL has to find a way to coincide with Reese and Morrow and Flaj and the phenom freshman Williams…

I mean, maybe they all get along and share the ball, but that has to actually be done, let’s watch. If all those alpha types and social media craving stars coexist and defer for the team then yeah, they will be really hard to beat. I wanna see it happen before I say it is set in stone.

I have asked this before, does UT play LSU in BR or Knoxville next year? I know SC has to go to BR so you know what I think about that game already.

Do what you may, but I provide real basketball analysis regardless of being liked or agreed with. I have nothing personal against Tennessee but like I said previously there isn’t balance between the playing styles of the players on the roster. And where did SC come from? The topic is Tennessee. You seem to go out of your way to make me notice the fact that you’re trying to be pessimistic about SC. It’s okay lol. We clearly will have to agree to disagree. Everyone has opinions I’m just expressing mines.

So having Wells and Spear at the two guard spots and Jax at the shooting 3 spot with Key at the 5 and Hollingshead at the 4 is not balanced? I don’t see your point tbh. Probably the tallest roster in the SEC, and 3 of the best shooters also. What am I missing? Have you seen the career stats from Spear and Wells? They can fill up the 3’s, Jax is best mid range shooter in the SEC and Key is all of 6’7, Holl is 6’4, what is not balanced?

That roster, imo, puts players like Puckett, Striplin, Darby etc in complimentary roles, where they belong imo, and will be great depth now that they are very experienced. Then there is Strickland and Powell, both of whom will contribute. Lot of balance in my eyes, but maybe I’m just not as smart as you are.
