Nah. Their fans would consider it sacrilege after that time Barnes almost got in a fight with Dean Smith when he coached Clemson.

True, not to mention Roy is 70 and Barnes 66, they probably would rather go after someone in their 40s or 50s that can be there a decade or two.

Jmo, the question is not a dumb one. I don't think Barnes is on their radar due to age and extent of success over the last few years.

This. Barnes is a few years from retirement. They aren’t bringing in someone old. I guarantee they want their next coach to be someone that will be there for 10-15 years if possible.

I'd say maybe it's a different story if he was averaging close to a S16 run per season, maybe they would go for him. But if that were the case, no way UT would be outbidded. I don't think even the UT Athletic Department would mess that up.

I doubt Carolina will want someone outside the family unless they are really, really good and promising. The Tar Heels are the most incestuous on hiring their own in the sport.

Is hiring a capable assistant coach and maybe 2 come first before we get some of these high level guys to commit? I would think that might hurt us not having them in place? Is Barnes' reputation enough?

I still haven’t seen the Carr news from any reputable source. If true, it just makes it that much more important to land guys like BHH, Powell, and Wahab.

But I thought high level transfers wanted to come into lots of guaranteed playing time with no competition....

I'll be curious to see the spin job done around here if we whiff on the high level transfer market.

Cal just tells them what they want to hear

Sorry, I just realized that it was fake, keep forgetting it’s April Fool’s, I don’t know what to trust anymore lol😂

You are making it so difficult. Carr is a PG and Grady is a SG. Just google Kentucky and PG and see what pops up. Cal openly said during last season that PG was an issue. Nolan Hickman is the incoming freshman, ranked top 35, and already committed. It's not a guarantee that he is great yet.

We aren't getting a high level PG, nor do we need one. We should be able to get a contributor at SG/wing and in the post.

Edit: LOL, and now, it's April Fools.

I think that Kennedy Chandler draws a high level transfer or 2. Just watched him on ESPNU. He’s a special passer and penetrator. IMO a shooter and a post will really want to team up with KC.

Yes, it would surprise me if a couple or three don’t want that exposure with an elite PG.

Spin job? I mean he's not even a "shooter" like VQ keeps saying staff is looking for, career 33% from 3. Santi, Bailey and James all have that or better already on roster.

I mean I wouldn't turn him away, but I doubt he was one we were really pursuing.

This will be our post transfer, imo
Would think he’s pretty familiar with Grant Williams with their hometowns being 1 hour apart, and their size and games are pretty similar...I would think if you throw on the tape of what you did with GW and how you used him, show him who his PG is going to be, and simply put show him your starting 4 man in Yves Pons just left that you’ve got a pretty good shot at him.
