Trump promises and proposals tracking thread.

The audit brings the wasteful spending to light, yes?
Wasteful to who though? So far what he has deemed "wasteful" is just funding for programs that he disagrees with. Why does the richest man in the world, not even a US citizen and not elected, get to decide what is wasteful spending and what isn't? I'm sure none of his own govt contracts will be deemed wasteful though.

I wouldnt use the term audit. It's a fishing expedition for liberal waste and red meat for the base.

All for eliminating waste. Just needs to be more even handed in the targets going after...

They are hitting the Pentagon...

They are hitting the Pentagon...

They are tap dancing around the Pentagon going after DEI and media organizations (NYT and Thomson Reuters) that provide services to them.....

They are hitting the immaterial scraps and ignoring the MIC....

no they aren't..read that WaPo article I just posted in Trump thread.

The DoD is getting a $100,000,000,000.00 budget increase. Article was generic and only specific was going after F35 for the umpeenth time...

The Pentagon has to take many of these programs because they manufacture in the respective state of members of Congress. Why the MIC spreads the work around.. Congress is as much a problem as the Pentagon itself, which would like to divest programs.

If you find all this spending they're identifying so worthwhile, you fund them personally. I'm sure you're a big fan of transvestite opera, etc.

Yes, but that's just one part of a true "efficiency" audit. It's just as important to examine work procedures and responsibilities from dept to dept identifying redundancy. Most every Fortune 500 company in the last 30 years have had efficiency audits of their systems of producing their products/services. Much of the time it's about reducing expenditures as a result of eliminating wasteful practices within the organization. It's both a bold and risky move to be immediately smashing funds and jobs before a thorough audit is complete. I suppose you can always reinstate if needed

Audit is ill-defined in Trump's promise.

I can remove the check if everyone feels it doesn't meet the standard.

I think it is incorrect to attribute wasteful spending to “liberals” or “ conservatives.” Both sides voted for the CRs that are funding this garbage. Both sides should be accountable.

How bout we call it “congressional” waste and let the green check-mark remain

@McDad Something like

"Trump rebranded USDS to include DOGE with the intent of reviewing government budgets and spending, which is the assumed intent of the promise. A reasonable debate exists as to whether DOGE is performing an auditing function due to independence questions and scope of the DOGE review."

Ok with the check since this was assumed intent. "Audit" is the wrong word but wont get hung up on semantics....
