Well at least maybe some people will realize Trump is shady and all this isn't some grand conspiracy against him. Innocent people prove their innocence, not take the 5th.
Wut? Who's buried in Grant's tomb?
"The Fifth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution provides that “no person … shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself.”
Ergo, if you committed no crime, you won't self-incriminate.
I think he did what he needed to do if he is guilty.
He basically said, "of course I'm guilty, but I'm not about to help you prove it."
After all, if someone has an alibi which proves they are innocent of a suspected crime, I doubt they would choose to take the 5th.
He has pretty much been proven guilty. He was being given the opportunity to disprove those findings of guilt.....and he couldn't.
Whether or not it is accurate to categorically label Trump as dumb can be disputed. That Trump says a lot of dumb things can not. Trump's criticism of other people for pleading the 5th Amendment was dumb.
IIRC one of the Trump cronies is in jail after he said he met with a group and left an individual off that group list. So it seems they are willing to nickle and dime Trumpers on partial truths.Hmmm... lemme follow your logic...
If you are innocent, you can still be entrapped if you tell a lie.
Fair enough.
But, why tell a lie in the first place?
Oh, wait... that would erase 90% of Trump's oral history.
Got it.
Used to get drinks with another attorney who said he’d replace all his clients chapstick with superglue if he could.
“They have the right to remain silent, they don’t have the ability.”
Literally nothing to see here.

The better question is why put yourself in that situation where you might inadvertently lie and wind up in trouble if you could just avoid it?
Its entrapment by the government.
Of course, it is.Those all wrapped around the axle over Trump’s taking the 5th, do you know how many people have been wrongly convicted because a prosecutor/law enforcement agency twisted their words or sowed doubt during interviews, depositions and testimony? I don’t know how many, but y’all must think it’s ZERO. If it’s not cut and dry, if there is grey area, one would be very wise to keep their mouth shut. Yeah, yeah, I know what Trump said. Who gaf? It’s the smart play regardless.
I agree his wounds are self-inflicted, you can’t go against one of the most corrupt institutions (the swamp) in the world and expect to come out the other side. The inevitable "I've been framed!" defense.
Pathetic.
Honestly, listening to Trump whine about his self-inflicted wounds is 100% akin to listening to Russia tell us it's Ukraine's fault for their "special military operation".
Of course, it is.
For most of us (and yes, I saw @volinbham 's post), this is not about Trump pleading the 5th. It's about Trump's history of saying stupid things about other people for pleading the 5th. When it comes to hypocrisy, Trump is without peer.
