Trump takes the 5th

I will only speak for myself, but this is wrong.

Even before he became heavily involved in politics (around 2011, while questioning where Obama was born), I would have told you that I did not like him just based on his personality.

He is egotistical to an extreme... even narcissistic, without much sense of self-awareness. He boasts about everything. Lesley Stahl tells him that he isn't known for humility, so then he even boasts about how humble he is.

He is very dishonest. He has lied about how much money he actually inherited from his father. He has made it seem that he was more "self-made" than was actually the case. He has exaggerated how prosperous his golf properties are, and he has even lied about how much money he has donated to charity organizations. He has frequently boasted of having donated to 9/11 charities, even though none of them have a record of a single donation ever being made by Donald Trump.

That is Trump in a nutshell. It's all about his ego. It's all about him. The truth is not important.

These are not traits that most people find appealing. If you really want to know why Trump lost the 2020 Presidential Election, you won't find it by looking for voter fraud, you will find it by examining his personality, and how independent voters respond to it.

What reality is
"That is Politicians in a nutshell. It's all about their ego. It's all about them. The truth is not important. "

Ok, that’s understandable and makes sense. But personality aside, what did he do policy or otherwise as President that has caused so much hate towards him?

I agree with you that he is a pompous ******* but I didn’t vote for him based on his personality. He is from outside the political elite and was disruptive to the ruling class. We need that more than anything in this country right now, someone, anyone who will expose and help eliminate the ruling class. And I don’t care if it is a R or a D, America needs to destroy the ruling class that we have given the keys to the kingdom to.

Serious question.

Exactly what did Trump do to make you hate him so much?
If you're asking me, I don't have a simple answer that you guys will understand.
I think a very good answer is "he picked Bannon, Stone, and Manafort as strategy leaders". That should tell a person all they need to know..............but it doesn't.
Bottom line is I view him as a clinically narcissistic, amoral, and soulless, person who has absolutely no capacity for empathy and views a person's value entirely as a function of power, fame, and wealth. He views absolutely everyone and everything as acceptable collateral damage if it increases any of those three things.

The left believes they are the party of Ward Cleaver but failing to see they fall more in line with Eddie Haskells character.

For me, hate is a strong word, but I "hate" him in the same way that I hate W, Obama, and Biden because all these guys are out of control with government growth. On top of that, I hate him for being the world's biggest troll and doing what seems to be irrevocable damage to voters on the right. GOP is no longer even pretending that responsible government is the priority. It's all about pwning the libs and culture wars now. I thought Republicans were the high road party and if that was true, it's not true in the post-Trump world.

In fact, I have to give credit/blame to Trump for deranging both sides and dividing us to the point that even I'm very concerned (as someone who has never been that troubled by political division).

And he sends out mean tweets..😉

It is a valid reason to dislike a president. It's very embarrassing for the leader of our proud nation to conduct his social media like he's Regina George. It's also divisive and has created messes. The idea that you guys think this is an invalid critique must mean that you never grew up or understood the value of professionalism.

Trump isn't about destroying the ruling class, he is about becoming the ruling class. The irony to me is that we have never had a president more disdainful of middle-America, fly-over country, and the working man - but Trump realized that they were his only shot at power. He had been pretty much ostracized and laughed at by the coastal elites he so wanted to impress and be accepted by.

So for you it is all about personality. Fair enough but what policies did he push that you disagreed with?

Sure it is a valid reason. But the level of hate displayed for him? What policies of his that negatively effected you supported that?

Mean tweets any different than sending Susan Rice on the Sunday shows to say Benghazi was because of a YouTube video? Seems the leader of the free world would use transparency in regards to two government facilities being attacked.

I don't care that much either way about his policies. I do hate his Supreme Court picks which he made for no reason other than to appease his base - certainly not out of philosophical conviction.
It was never about his policies with me. If you would pick someone with the same policies but who is not a horrendously despicable human you'd get much further.

Disdainful? I beg to differ:
"They get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations."

What exactly makes you believe Trump wants to be part of the ruling class? What has he done that would support your accusation?

People hated Obama and he wasn't much of a dick. Imagine if Obama were publicly an unrepentant dick to anybody who wasn't in lockstep with him. That's why people hate Trump so much.

I'm not totally understanding the last question.

Think about this......
Trump willingly sacrificed his ability to be a better leader and win a second term because he wouldn't stop sending out silly, insulting, and immature tweets.

What exactly does that say about Trump? You may discover some other answers as you ponder that question.
Dig down several levels.

Obama publicly lied over and over to our grandparents in order to pass his healthcare bill.

That fact alone makes him a bigger di** than either of us will ever be.

But I understand your point overall.

So let's have a report about Biden's supreme court appointment then, Luther? She was nothing more than a diversity hire and you're knocking Trump's nominations? At least he nominated people that stood up for the constitution and not the color of skin and whatever gender they identified with.

Sure people disliked Obama. Some I am sure because of his color but the majority because of his condescending lectures and socialist policies and yes, lies. For me it was his policies and how they affected me and my family. Same with Joe. His policies regarding the economy, energy and China (national security) do not and will not work.

Yeah, but the point is every president is hated for these very same reasons by people from the other side of the spectrum. So then you take a person that people were going to hate anyway (even if he mostly behaved professionally and diplomatically) and make him into the epitome of a troll, and you got your explanation as to why people hate Trump so much.
