So, assuming a top 10 tornado of all time plus the Nashville flood hit the same year, an increase of state portio of the sales tax rate from 7% to 7.1% would have covered it...

And that is assuming the same amount of waste and bureaucracy would exist if the feds were gone...

Blue state Virginia got a major emergency declaration for Helene.

Tennessee has still yet to receive theirs for Helene. South Carolina has yet to receive theirs from Debby 2 months ago (30 inches of rain) while Vermont and New York received theirs from Debby weeks ago with a fraction of the precip...

The longer the TN major declaration request takes, the longer that TN residents have to wait to seek meaningful assistance, and the longer local communities have to deal with the uncertainty of what and how much of the damage will be covered, the more Trump's general theme of R discrimination appears to optically have some merit.....

In this political environment, perception is reality. It was that way after Katrina with Bush and after Maria with Trump....
