It's increasingly clear, gents, that the Trumps and Kushner have been involved in money-laundering deals involving Russian oligarchs investing in real estate in New York and other places. Dirty Russian money has propped up Trump's empire--and let's remember that Trump was in pretty dire financial shape for years; most U.S. and European banks would not deal with him. The one bank that would, Deutsch Bank, is embroiled in major money-laundering investigations. Trump has also associated with unsavory types for most of his career, starting with mob lawyer Roy Cohn, a good friend and mentor of Trump. Trump is shady--he's always been shady.
Kushner got a sweetheart deal on the old New York Times building, owned by a Russian magnate whose firm had a variety of deals with Prevezon--a Russian company that had been indicted in the U.S. for money-laundering. He paid below market value for the part of the building he bought. If you are dealing with stolen money, money being laundered, you don't worry so much about market value--and you deal with people whom you've dealt with before, in this case Kushner.
The Russian accountant who uncovered that Prevezon's principles had used some scam to steal millions from the Russian government was arrrested and put in prison and was killed in prison. The U.S. put sanctions on Russia related to the money-laundering and the death of the whistle blower--whose name was Magnitsky. The meeting in Trump Tower between the Russian lawyer and Trump Jr. and Kushner and Manafort was interested in getting the so-called Magnitsky sanctions lifted.
There is almost no doubt that the Trumpsters passed along the word to Putin--a man with a long record of murdering those (politicians, businessmen, journalists) who expose his corrupt government-- during the campaign that various sanctions would be lifted if Trump were elected, and in return Russian hacked U.S. social media website and the DNC, etc.
And let's recall the many meetings between Trump campaign people and Russians, both during the campaign and immediately after the election, that they conveniently forget about when questioned, under oath, during confirmation hearings--starting with our own Attorney General.
So we have a president who has been compromised by dirty Russian money. And please know that Trump cares FAR more about his business than he does about being president--that is why he has violated the emoluments clause in the constitution and has ignored conflict of interest rules. So what, eh? What's a little presidential corruption, right--Obama MUST have done the same thing, right? We have an Attorney General who has lied under oath about meetings with Russians--and about the content of his conversation with the Russian ambassador. We have a former National Security Advisor who, according to the former acting attorney general, was compromised by Russia. Flynn had been paid for appearances by Russian organizations and lied about the content of his conversations with the Russian ambassador, etc.
So here we have a very real scandal as opposed to the very fake scandals that the Republicans and their rural tribe promoted--Benghazi! Yea, it's a shame we don't have a video of Putin telling Trump in a secret meeting, "I vill help you win, comrade." We just have a stream of accumulating facts. But no biggie, yea? It's ok to have a president who wants to tailor American foreign policy to the wishes of a murderous Russian dictator--longtime enemy of American--because he wants and needs dirty Russian money for his business. This is about a president whose first priority is building and protecting his real estate business, and covering up his past associations with Russians, not in doing the rights things for this country.
