I don't think he wants out of NATO. I think it's part of the bluster/negotiation style he has. He's continually been trying to reshape the burden the US carries in NATO relative to other members.
Let's.
The US economy is about 5x larger than Germany's. The US pays 15x more then Germany to support NATO.
Further, the NATO treaty calls for spending at least 2% of GDP on funding NATO - several members including Germany pay less than they are obligated to pay (Germany at 1.2; US at 3.6). Only the UK (2.1), Poland (2), Estonia (2.1) and Greece (2.4) met their obligation. This is not a new phenomenon.
Not crazy to say that the deal needs work. It is crazy to seriously suggest leaving if that's not a negotiation ploy. Even if a ploy it's a dangerous game.

Thanks for digging those up. The dollars are not nearly as disproportionate as they appear without that context. There is a consensus position that we would like certain countries to pay more.
However, undermining the institution itself and threatening to leave because of the finances is reckless and misguided at best and suspicious at worst.
Apparently, from your link, he never publicly threatened to leave NATO.
Let's flip it around. If Russian government officials gave compromising information about Clinton to some 3rd party who then passed it on to Team Trump who used it during the election is that fine? Would you have any problem with that?
If this "collusion" was a fact it would not have taken 2 plus years. What's taking all this time is they are going after people and crap that doesn't have anything to do with Russia or "collusion" Crooked Mueller is way out of his scope here but he's bffs with Comey and a never Trumper so I'm not surprisedThe rest of the joke goes, "but we did see this guy named Starr who had a 5 year pregnancy and he survived.. You're actually in pretty good shape by comparison."
Yeah, Mueller is crooked, because "Honest Don" said so.. well, at least that's what Putin said, so..If this "collusion" was a fact it would not have taken 2 plus years. He wants to get confirmed, you think he's going to go up there and say oh Mueller is a crooked lying POS?You're a trip man. Compare the bios of Mueller and trump and tell me who the crook is.
Even trump's new AG candidate is effusive in praise for Mueller, who happens to be a decorated marine and war veteran and a Republican.
There's a lot of qualification in your statement. There's obviously a lot of smoke, and its no secret that trump has been adversarial against NATO members. This isn't a stretch, and moreover, its from FOX News and debated with merit, not conspiracy theory stuff.
