TrumPutinGate

I have been around long enough to remember when a democrat President made fun of a candidate and him and his supporters in the media would laugh for suggesting our election could be tampered with. Ahh the good old days

I'm sure that was before Al Gore invented the internet.

The agreement states that NATO members must meet the 2% of GDP spending goal by 2024. It's 2019.

As I understand it the commitment to 2% has been long standing; in 2014 after years of members not meeting that the made an agreement for everyone to get there by 2024.

Regardless, Germany is the 2nd largest economy in NATO but just the 4th largest contributor.

The deal could use some work.

I don't care what he does as long as he gets confirmed and ends this hoax investigation

So trump over all else, huh, truth be damned? End justifies the means, no matter the cost? Damn the torpedos and full speed ahead, no matter what. You've cast your lot and are balls deep, hook line and sinker.

PS: if you'd like to expand your mind a bit, look up the definition of hoax and compare that to the results of the investigation thus far

That's a reasonable position. Unfortunately trump isn't reasonable.

Thanks for digging those up. The dollars are not nearly as disproportionate as they appear without that context. There is a consensus position that we would like certain countries to pay more.

However, undermining the institution itself and threatening to leave because of the finances is reckless and misguided at best and suspicious at worst.

I explicitly acknowledged that.

I do not support Trump's NATO rhetoric - I'm just not ready to say it's because he's on the hook to Putin.

You're a trip man. Compare the bios of Mueller and trump and tell me who the crook is.

Even trump's new AG candidate is effusive in praise for Mueller, who happens to be a decorated marine and war veteran and a Republican.

I doubt Trump ever ok’ed letting a murder operate with impunity or let fought to keep 2 guys in prison for a crime he knew they didn’t commit.

But hey, we probably have differing options on what is crooked.

2 years plus of an "investigation" into Russian collusion which of course no one really knows what that even means and nothing criminal and all we have are people convicted on 2 things: lying to the crooked prosecutor and tax invasion 20 years ago. Definition: hoax

I’m sure this made more sense in your head.

If you want European countries to have larger militaries than the U.S. should rework the treaty on Conventional Armed Forces in Europe which we basically made every major NATO country sign.

If this "collusion" was a fact it would not have taken 2 plus years. What's taking all this time is they are going after people and crap that doesn't have anything to do with Russia or "collusion" Crooked Mueller is way out of his scope here but he's bffs with Comey and a never Trumper so I'm not surprised

I'm amazed at how many people on this board have access to Mueller's files

Doesn’t concern me in the least. Why should it?
Because it would mean that he knowingly paid to lie to the American public by providing false information disguised at factual data for the sole purpose of personal benefit.

And that is the definition of fraud. If that does not rise to your level of concern, then Trump should indeed be your man.

In law, fraud is deliberate deception to secure unfair or unlawful gain, or to deprive a victim of a legal right. Fraud itself can be a civil wrong (i.e., a fraud victim may sue the fraud perpetrator to avoid the fraud or recover monetary compensation), a criminal wrong (i.e., a fraud perpetrator may be prosecuted and imprisoned by governmental authorities), or it may cause no loss of money, property or legal right but still be an element of another civil or criminal wrong.[1] The purpose of fraud may be monetary gain or other benefits, such as obtaining a passport or travel document, driver's license or qualifying for a mortgage by way of false statements.[2]

Fine, doesn't change the point that NATO members have been free-riding to some extent and perhaps things could be made more equitable.

You mean like a campaign ad?

And further Opinion | Smearing Robert Mueller

"Was Robert Mueller, the special counsel, complicit in one of the worst scandals in the F.B.I.’s history — the decades-long wrongful imprisonment of four men for a murder they didn’t commit?...

"There is no evidence that the assertion is true. I was the federal judge who presided over a successful lawsuit brought against the government by two of those men and the families of the other two, who had died in prison. Based on the voluminous evidence submitted in the trial, and having written a 105-page decision awarding them $101.8 million, I can say without equivocation that Mr. Mueller, who worked in the United States attorney’s office in Boston from 1982 to 1988, including a brief stint as the acting head of the office, had no involvement in that case. He was never even mentioned. "
