Chavis strikes me as a guy whose personality will mesh much better with Swinney than Miles. Also, I think he might like to get away from the SEC for a while.

My guess would be yes. At least Swinney will get three or four years to make it work. Les Miles won't get that if they have another year like this one. Besides, I think Chief is a South Carolina native.

My take on Tuberville is that he will stay now for sure unless some school will take care of his buyout and I do not see a school that can do that now especially with Clemson keeping Dabo.

As for Chief, I hope he lands the Clemson job as a DC, if it is open. LSU would be a good fit for him though. Good luck Chief!

Its hard to get my arms around Auburn firing Tubberville. The guy is a great big game coach and beats the top SEC teams (florida, lsu) regularly. Shoot, in his past 5 years:

2008: 5-7
2007: 9-3
2006: 11-2
2005: 9-3
2004: 13-0

I know that some could equate his struggles to what we saw, the offense being his downfall in 2008, but I don't see the same trend that we've suffered through. The guy is a good coach, he just needs a good OC. Starting the season ranked #9 may have been part of his downfall, the expectations were too high given the circumstances.

That was about the dumbest thing AU could have done. That was the most success Auburn has had since Pat "Tie" walked the sidelines.

This is purely Auburn scared to death of Saban, but I don't see another coach out there that they can get.

According to my brother who is the biggest Auburn fan, Muschamp left in part because his family hated living in auburn. But if they fired Tubby the better have Muschamp lined up because anything less is a huge downgrade.

+1 Auburn IS the girl at the bar that thinks she's a 10, but really is maybe a 5. One of the smallest stadiums in the SEC with limited facilities. They are going to incredibly sorry Tubby is gone... of course, I would have told them to screw off after the late night filght to see Petrino.
