Diamond's father is sewing discontent. Will cause some fans to turn against Diamond. Dumb Ass move on his part.
Franklin, we are not exactly playing genius basketball right now...if that was my kid, Holly would have been hearing from me a long time ago. The tail has been waging the dog ever since Holly took over this program.

I really don't know how a person sews discontent. Might be a little hard to do. But if they sow discontent, which happens with seeds being sown (planted) we may be on to something. lol. jk.

Her dad is a professional, which HW is supposed to be after 30 years of coaching at one of the top 2 collegiate women's basketball programs in history. Any honest person that knows anything about the game can see the system is not designed for the roster and HW is clueless about managing the roster and system she does run in games. He is simply frustrated that she wasted her transfer coming to this mess.

2/3 of DD's turnovers are not her fault at all. Sure they go on her column in the box score, but most of them are because whoever she is passing to is asleep, isn't ready, can't handle a well-thrown pass, or is as fooled by DD's skill at looking one way and passing another as the the other team. Some of her turnovers are bad passes, but fault for most of them is on the receiving end.

no no no....a good player makes her teammates look better. By this point in the season, Diamond should understand that Mercedes has soft hands, etc. And yet, she continues to fling highlight reel bullets in every direction. Time to simply park her on the bench and encourage her transfer at year's end.

In case you missed it.

@LadyVol_Hoops if Holly don't put @DDDeshields back n the game!!!! What are you doing?

@HollyWarlick trying to beat the best without her best players on the court! #sad

Oh ... Now you put her in!?!?!

@LadyVol_Hoops Good coaching recognize bad coaching!!

Pretty much true, but Diamond did come in a d get two would in less than 2 minutes. In the third she picked up another quick foul and had to sit so could be around during crunch time. If she or her father want her to play longer, she has to quit the silly fouls. I think she is the best player on the team and should be available when the game is on the line.

Answer this question: What kind of vibe does DD exude on the court--positive or negative? We've got two issues, not one.

ln case most have missed this fact, DeShields has played POORLY most of the year. She is not very tough and not very enthusiastic, plays defensive sporadically and pouts a lot. Her shooting percentage has been LOW, her turnovers HIGH. This is why she no longer starts. I've been more critical of Warlick than anybody, but I'm not blaming DD's poor play on the coach. Own your bad play. What changes have we seen to this team from last year to this: We lost two leaders in Burdick and Harrison and we gained one temperamental princess/bad apple in D. DeShields. And we see the worst chemistry we've seen on a UT team in years. Own your play. Worry about yourself.

Is DD the most talented offensive player we have? Absolutely. She should she have had more minutes tonight? Probably. Warlick is always getting things wrong--nobody gets that more than me. WE can complain--we're just fans and computer jockeys. Players are not entitled to mope and blame the coaching for their bad performances. DD's bad body language was a RED FLAG for me in the FIRST GAME. She has attitude and toughness issues--they are noticeable a mile away. We all want to see DD fulfill her talent and help this team succeed. Own you play. Go out and bust your tail and pick up your teams, be enthusiastic and try to HELP the cause instead of hurting the cause. Have we seen that from DD? No, we haven't.

Bull **** to your entire post ....that is most eloquently stated. The offense that Holly plays and insisting on passing into the post and the non ability by many of players to be ready for Deshield's passes have been a huge problem in turnovers. Moreover ,Deshields is the only one who can create her own shot in this antiquated offense against the zone and many of her shots have been desperation shots to get it off before the shot clock expires after other guards have dribbled around the three shot circle for an eternity staring down the two low posts in clogged lanes ( and if they pass the ball into the post it would result in a turn over).

Last nite they played a two low post offense against the zone as per normal, the guards dribbled and dribbled and dribbled the ball on the outer edges of the zone and then either took desperation shots when the shot clock ran out or passed into the posts resulting in a turnover per normal with Holly's offense.

I don't know why DD is no longer starting.
She is by far and away our biggest offensive threat.
That being said, a losing culture breeds this kind of dissension in a program.
When Pat was at her best, this would never happen.
Dad and daughter would both be in her office and this would have been hashed out privately, not publically.

Our program is hurting.
I don't know the best way to fix it.
Hopefully, someone does.

I would have the same attitude if I were playing in that offense.

I would play Deshields 40 minutes if her health would permit and tell her to take the game over ,shoot as much as she wants ,not force any passes into the post per coaches instructions and step out of the way ....We might even be undefeated if that had been the approach all year.

As a general rule I try not to watch the Lady Vols - however I did end up watching the last 4 minutes and although DD did score a few points during that span - I am not sure that I have ever seen a more disorganized mess than what I witnessed in those 4 minutes. It can only be described as rec ball with one person taking every shot while the other 4 watched to see if it was going to go in or not. There is no way to have any chemistry on a team when you have one person shooting and dribbling every time they touch it and never looking to distribute the ball. The ball stopped moving every time it reached her. Four minutes is not enough time to critique the play of DD, the team, or the coaching but you have to have better ball movement, player movement and the ball can't reside in one persons hands the whole time. Perhaps she was trying to make up for lost minutes - but what was striking - was having one person going 1 on 5 with the other 4 not involved.

DD led the team yet again with FIVE TURNOVERS. Maybe her MILLIONAIRE father can teach her to make better passes and cut down on her selfishness.

Did you actually watch the game ? Her turnovers by in large were passes that were right in the hands of people under the basket and wide open who fumbled it out of bounds.

I would encourage more selfishness since she is the only one who can create her own shot in this dastardly ,antiquated offense against the zone.If she had been turned loose all year and was healthy ,I would play her 40 minutes and tell her to take over the game.....we would probably be undefeated.
