Happy to see you back, and I respect your opinion on these types of things but can you elaborate on what that means for the layman fan? What specifically does the admin do (or not do) that has him hamstrung?

The politics and bureaucracy causes all kinds of issues for the program now that the Chancellor is involved. Financial issues, recruiting issues, academic issues, discipline issues, etc. That was never the case when the AD reported directly to the President.

Danny is under the chancellor, so not really.

I doubt it. It would have to be a change made way above the AD. At the President/BOT level I assume. Would be great to get a strong aggressive AD in here though who would push hard for the change. Would be very risky for them though.

I think if Heupel is very successful it entrenches White enough that maybe he can push for that but idk. Only thing academia knows how to do better than burn an athletic program to the ground is to hold on to power.

For the 9 millionth time for all of Volnation that does not read, the state of Tennessee NIL law does not go into effect until January 1, 2022. Why is his so hard for people to understand?

It was amended later on and basically made effective immediately in 2021.

1) He's a special player at RB. Instant offense.

2) Wright and Sampson are young but both explosive.

3) Don't need a superstar RB in Heupels offense.

In Summary: He's a special RB that fortunately is NOT required for our offense to flourish .

We need more consistency at blocking and throwing!

My understanding is he focusing on schools he was partial to first time around. And yes, it's pretty much about the best NIL deal, a one and done season and off to the NFL

May not be required, but it would be a help to have one when the QB has an off day.

We overpaid for him so he came for the golden parachute and generational wealth. He likely wasn’t aware of all the disfunction until he arrived.

White is a good AD, but we have had such a run of incompetent ADs that the bar is quite low here. Common denominator is that these Chancellor’s are making the hires with their own agenda in mind and therefore going for the weasel type they can control.

So you are saying that Danny White's father, long-time AD at Duke, would have had no idea of the potential problems at UT that you cite? Or did Danny just ignore the red flags?

The idea that DW, well connected and clearly considered a rising star, would have taken this job without doing any due diligence and ignoring warnings of others in the industry is a bit of a stretch.

We need to eventually win some of these battles but I don’t think Evans is a huge loss…. I don’t blame a player for looking for his best opportunity bc I would as well.

It doesn’t take a “long time industry expert, connected AD” to be aware of the turbulence UTAD has experienced. White knows he will have a healthy budget and the SEC revenue stream so it’s a step up in his career progression, regardless of the headwinds he will face.

Again, we paid him over market value and he worked UT with his contract stipulations so his concerns were likely put to bed with his guaranteed soft landing.

I like White and desperately hope he does a stand up job for many years but some of the power matrix issues and lack of alignment are out of his control.

It is Parody. Evans would have been more of a distraction than a contributor.
1 year deal for a NIL we were not going to Pay the amount. Was not going to happen.
Anybody that wants to come Play on this team with a Handler (Pimp) should not bother and we should not want them here.
To much improvement in the Team, Coaching and Culture Aspects than what it is worth.
We can get the production we need from current and new players without the distractions.
We do not need a prima donna here....
