Tyler Summitt and Mickie Demoss should be here next season

*facepalm*

Every time I think posts here couldn't possibly get any dumber, someone proves me wrong. I weep for humanity.

(For what it's worth, after Holly sat down, some of the players tried to get her to respond to them and lighten the mood. That tells me they like and respect her a great deal, and they were bothered by the fact that they had upset her to the point that they had and wanted to make it better. To claim that these players don't respect her or want to play for her is utter drivel and you ought to be ashamed of yourself.)

Good job, I guess.

Why would I be ashamed for stating the truth? When a former player says they don't respect Holly am I supposed to call her a liar? You can stay in denial all you want, but the "noise" from both inside and outside the program is getting louder and louder. It will only accelerate with upcoming losses and another season with no Final Four appearance. That is what should make you weep, Ivy. I'll tell you what makes me weep - watching a clueless "coach" waste one of the most talented teams in recent memory, watching the nation's top recruits choose other programs, and watching other traditional bottom dwellers like South Carolina surpass TN in talent and coaching. Many fans are concerned as we sit by and watch the nation's premier program slowly but surely sink further into national irrelevance. Opposing teams no longer fear us. Cupcakes are taking us to the final minute of games. Players don't care and the coach refuses to coach, all while "fans" like you think nothing is wrong.. Keep that mentality. :good!:

Volstylexx, great post. You hit the nail on the head, but the minority of Holly lovers will never agree. They, instead, choose to insult anyone with a differing opinion.

We can also diminish a legend by exaggerating or adding to it.

When Pat began her coaching career Jody Conradt was 33 and already had 100 wins. She was a mentor to Pat in many ways. Pat built on Jody's foundation.

Everyone who succeeds stands on the shoulders of those who went before them. The next great women's coach will not stand on Pat's shoulders, but on the shoulders of those who have now succeeded Pat. Coaching "generations" pass much quicker than fan generations.

George Halas and Vince Lombardi would not be successful NFL coaches today. That does not diminish their place in history. It's not just that "the game" has changed, it's the players who continually change as society changes. Lots of moving parts in producing a championship team in any sport, any season. This is not fantasy league, so solutions will not be simple enough to fit in anyone's single post!

That blue font thing just sailed right by you, didn't it.

Some of you people are completely out of your minds.

I don't care what some of you couch-potato gurus say,

If you listen to what the players have said rather than the voices inside your heads,

If you people knew half as much as you think you do (or want others to think you do), you would actually be coaching somewhere and making a difference, not just spewing mindless drivel and whiny platitudes on an internet forum. Much of what I see here appears to be the product of miserable lives with nothing better to do than throw out impotent, valueless vitriol about matters that you 1) have no control over and 2) don't DESERVE any control over. I wouldn't be surprised to learn that most of you go home each evening to empty houses, eat alone, and go to bed alone at night. And for those of you who don't go home to empty houses . . . I bet whoever is unfortunate enough to live with you wishes he or she could.

But why not tell everyone how you really feel? :clapping:

I don't know if it's been mentioned, but ETSU was playing without its best player...who just happens to be their leading scorer & point guard and an all-conference preseason pick. Might have accounted for a lot of LV second-half success at pressing & forcing turnovers.

Anyway, it's always highly entertaining to tune in just to see the latest insults ivy has dug out of her thesaurus.

Have you mentioned yet how the VA Tech game was a "good loss?"

Just checked out Tyler's team and they are 4 and 3. They have scored in the 50's several times themselves even though they won a couple of them. So his team doesn't look to be an offensive dynamo anymore than what were seeing with the Lady Vols.

The "hire Tyler" is a clear case of heart over brain. Yes, it would be an awesome fairly tale story for Tyler to rekindle his mom's legacy and win 8 more NCs. But fairy tales seldom come true. Who knows, 20 years from now, he might develop the coaching chops but in the nearer term, there are far better options.

Fire a coach that averages 25 wins over her career for Tyler Summitt?
I'd rather keep Holly for now. Thread makes zero sense and I'm not even a big Holly advocate.

His last name got him a couple of gigs that no one else with his experience would get, and that is as far as it goes right now.

He hasn't won a thing where he is now to merit the attention that he gets from this board.

Come on, a program like Tennessee deserves the top coach available.

The Pat / Tyler Summitt love fest that exist on this site has become quite nauseating. Pat will always be considered the dean of women's college basketball. She made it relevant, at a time when it meant little to nothing to most, and will undoubtedly be a hall of fame coach, which she earned. That being said, the game clearly passed her by several years before she stepped aside. Anyone who says otherwise is clearly in denial. She was owned late in her career by not only Uconn, but ND, Baylor and others. It's way past time the UT women's program move ahead and stop living in the Summitt past.

Exactly.

Regardless of how long he has been a HC can anyone honestly say that he couldn't do the job Holly is doing now? The turnovers, shot clock violations, and piss poor use of timeouts doesn't exactly set a standard that Tyler Summitt couldn't live up to. At least he would have way more upside due to his youth. As far as nepotism goes, isn't that the same thing everyone does with these legacy recruits? Wouldn't you consider that a form of nepotism? Seems to be working out on that end. (Evan Berry etc)

I'm gonna say Tyler Summitt could coach us out of the top 25. It would be a challenge but I would be willing to bet he could do it. Lol

Its been the same boring, undisciplined, sloppy basketball since Holly took over.

before HW took over. He's just continued our tradition of bad offensive basketball and made it worse. People conveniently forget that PS was not a good offensive coach at all--it is why they program's slide started long before HW took over. Unfortunately, she has accelerated our decline--in large part because she's absolutely stuck playing 1980 PS-style basketball.
