U.S. Navy Not Fit For War

Lisa Franchetti takes over as acting Navy head - despite not being the first choice of Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin

The first woman took over as chief of the US Navy in 'acting capacity,' even though Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin nominated someone else for the role.

Chief of Naval Ops. Adm. Mike Gilday retired and handed the torch to Navy Admiral Lisa Franchetti, who will serve in an acting capacity until officially confirmed by the Senate after her nomination by President Joe Biden.

If confirmed, Franchetti would make history as the first woman to serve on the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

We are so screwed if things ever get hot with the commies.

It’s not a requirement that I’m aware of. A masters degree I believe is.

If a flag officer did not attend the Naval Academy for undergraduate, you will often see Naval War College for their masters degree.

My question is why did she attend, but apparently not graduate. What happened?
She was a he back then

"nearby"

So let me get this straight, the US can (justifiably) have concerns about Russian or Chinese ships moving "nearby" Alaska, but China isn't allowed to have the same concerns when the US passes near Taiwan or NATO arms and trains a proxy Army in Ukraine for 8 years?
Sure they are…. They do

@Grand Vol What the hell is going on out there? 17 deaths so far this year at one base is crazy.

Air Force Won't Disclose Causes of 17 Deaths at Tinker Air Force Base This Year

First I've heard of it... of course, according to the article, they're being tight lipped about it so wouldn't have heard.

Honest talk, the base is kind of a **** hole as it is. I know this first hand since it was my sunset assignment. I might have fought to stay in a few more years after hitting 20, but that place did me in big time. Way too much good old boy and entitled lifer civilians running things.

I just can't imagine that many deaths at one base and the commander not being relieved.

There's a weird dynamic there. There are three wing level organizations that report to different Major Commands and one of them is another service entirely. Plus the two areas on the civilian side of base.

Having an "Installation Commander" is a weird role since the "Commander" is a Full Bird, but there is a Major General over another portion of the base. Plus another Colonel over another wing and whatever the Navy has.

It's an odd area to be in.

Exclusive: Tommy Tuberville’s Stand Against DOD Abortion Policy Broadens to Blocking Woke Generals

Alabama Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R) blocking unanimous Senate confirmation of about 300 generals promoted by President Joe Biden is warranted given their woke backgrounds, conservative groups say.

The groups, including the American Accountability Foundation and Citizens for Renewing America, are looking at the officers’ backgrounds and highlighting statements they have made touting their support for embedding Critical Race Theory and diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) throughout the military.

300 Generals? Biden purging the Pentagon with his woke progressives?

“The total number of active duty general officers is capped at 231 for the Army, 62 for the Marine Corps, 198 for the Air Force, and 162 for the Navy.”

This is why I say the DoD budgets need to be cleaned up before they are cut.

Though I am curious about that whistle blower law awarding part of the recoup to the person finding it. @lawgator1 @ClearwaterVol do you guys know anything about that?

Not other than what I read in the media. There are law firms that specialize in the process I believe. As I recall, contact is made and then the DOJ (or some similar entity) decides if it wants to pursue it and if they do and recover then the whistle blower receives some fee out of that.

If law firms are taking their normal 20-30%, you're in the wrong line of work.

The other countries need to import and export just as much as we do. Let them chip in or takeover in their regions of influence, and we can handle the navigation within this hemisphere. India, China, Australia, The Middle East states, Japan and South Korea all have vested interests in having shipping lanes open.
Well, here it comes. No need for US naval presence to protect the shipping lanes in the Indian Ocean/Persian Gulf.

"Based on the international military cooperation plan and the consensus reached by the two sides, China and Saudi Arabia will hold 'Blue Sword-2023' joint naval special operations training in Zhanjiang, south China's Guangdong province, in October," said Senior Colonel Wu Qian, spokesperson for China's Ministry of National Defense. Zhanjiang is the headquarters of China’s South Sea Fleet and an important base for operations in the South China Sea.

"We Could Be Looking At A War Economy That Nobody Today Has Ever Experienced Before"

Blinken has warned in recent days that Azerbaijan could soon invade Armenia, and some analysts have pointed out that the United States’ military preoccupations, along with the absence of monsoonal rains in October, presents China with a window of opportunity to attack Taiwan. Meanwhile, the second US carrier group deployed to the Eastern Mediterranean has been temporarily delayed to ensure that the flagship USS Eisenhower is in “peak readiness”. Two carrier strike groups armed to the teeth is an act of gunboat diplomacy with a clear message for Iran: “don’t try it”.

With only a 50 to 100 mile range the usefulness of these machines will be so narrow they are a complete waste of money. Civilian models are about $13k so that means the military is paying upwards of 20 grand for a motorcycle that can't go more than 100 miles without spending at least an hour charging or changing batteries.

Recon Marines will use electric dirt bikes on next deployment

Yea man, but they’re super sneaky quiet.

and this -

“Because the bikes are electric, they are easier to maintain than other vehicles, and also significantly increase the distance that Recon Marines can cover when it is dark out, Bender said.”

Say what?
