Besides the fact that we have never lost to a mid major team under Fulmer,

You might want to go check that one out. I remember a particularly painful day back in the mid 90s. :shakehead:

the UAB game will be our first stage to prove we have what it takes to make a run for the championship title but we have to make sure we dont under estimate UAB because that is exactly what they want us to do where they can try to show us up but if we stay straight minded and unprideful ...we have a darn good chance to beat them.....cuz we loaded on both sides of the ball this season with many all americans that just came out of high school .....let just hope our new guys wont make rookie mistakes which is very common....reply back vol fans..............GO VOLS.....BEAT UAB.

Yeah - we're unfortunately on the same wavelength. And I'm pretty sure you'll also be on the same wavelength when - almost 10 years later - I say, "THAT GUY WAS CLEARLY DOWN!!"

Just looked it up.  In 2003, Hackney was out for 5 full games.  In 2002, Hackney was out for 1 full game, and didnt play but in maybe half of 3 more games.  That's 6 full games, and at least 3 half games... so let's just call it 7.5 full games.  He averages about 300 yards passing per game, so if he kept with his average, that would give him 2,250 more yards.  Which would put him at 8,950 for his career to this point.  I know it's all theoretical, but you cant look at his stats and try to make that point because again, I dont think Manning was hampered by any injury and I know you guys wouldnt argue in me saying that he had a better supporting cast.  Manning was a VERY good QB, but you cant compare Hackney and Manning considering they play on two very different teams.  If Manning had played with UAB's players, I can just about assure you he wouldnt put up those kind of numbers.  Throwing the ball is only half the job... youve got to have somebody to catch it.

Doesn't cut it, Hackney is not in the same league as Manning

Oh ok... well, all I know is that some of you are worried about Memphis while you should probably be more worried about UAB. We're going for our 6th straight win over them this year.

Are you really serious that you sont think tennessee is going to blow UAB away.  Besides the fact that we have never lost to a mid major team under Fulmer,  Besides the fact that even though u lost by a field goal aginst georgia last year,  we actually beat them,  and besides the fact you lost one of your main offensive productor in your wide reciver and you think you can hang with posibly the best defense in the nation???? not likely.

Maybe the best defense in the nation and you allowed 30+ points to Vandy and Kentucky? And you allowed like 17 points to UNLV and La. Tech? I mean believe me, you guys have a great defense and definitely a better defense than ours, but I wouldnt say it's the best defense in the nation either unless yall got some major new talent.

I am worried about memphis only beacuse they have possibly the best runningback in the nation. Your qb may be good, but a qb needs someone to throw to to be affective. A running back just needs the ball. But i dont think UAb has the defense to stop our potent offense, nor the running game to keep us from putiing hackney on his put all day long. I just dont see how this game is going to be close.

Well and you could very well be right. I'm not much for smack or trash talk, so I wont say we'll cream you guys or that I'm certain we'll win, but I am confident in my team. We'll just have to wait a few more weeks to see.

Yeah its called freshman defensive backs becoming sophmores. Its amazing how much one year of learning in the sec will do for you. Its called getting kevin simon back healthy for the first time in a long time. its called moving jason allen back to his orignal postion of corner where he can be just plain shut down. its called getting the best defensive back in the nation out of high school named d-morley to come play for you. Its called having one of the most dominant d-lines the sec has ever seen. But i guess that isnt good enough for ya.

As a matter of fact UT did get some new Major talent to go along with Major talent already there and they are also a year older and a front 7 rated as a top 5 in the nation.

It's going to be a decent game but UT still wins by 21+

Yes, alot of fans are more worried about Tiger High and rightly so. Tiger High IS in state and means more than an out of state non SEC team. Let's put it this way who means more to UAB playing and beating Troy State or playing and beating say Middle Tennessee State?

You guys would be less embarrassed losing to UAB than to lose to Memphis? I guess that makes sense. I'd rather UAB lose to MTSU than Troy probably.

Here's a young UAB WR that's expected to get alot of playing time this year. His name is Willie Edwards. He's pretty ripped and about 6'3 215lbs. This photo is also courtesy of BlazerMatt. I anxiously await your comparison for this one. :laugh1:
