UF Coaching search (Merged)

Not at all, I just don't get how anyone paying attention can't see the irony of UT fans mocking UF looking to replace its worst coach in the modern era who never lost to UT.

Implying UT and Florida's coaching personnel were in some ways equal to one another is pushing it. Tennessee has been in complete disarray since 2009, from the staff to the roster.

No matter who was coaching Florida during that time, the UT football program was almost in absolute shambles.

You just fired your coach and your recruiting class ranks dead last in the SEC. Yes even Vandy is out recruiting the Gators. Even Temple is out recruiting you guys. In addition, you would kill to have a coach like Butch. So thump your chest on your 1 point win

Irony, huh? Do you understand that Dooley was the worst coach at UT in school history? He damn near burned our program to the ground. So, big accomplishment for Muschamp - very impressed .

And obtw, I wasn't mocking UF. Just enjoying the fact that the shoe is on the other foot.

All of our coaching changes have basically sucked - glad we have some stability for a change.

Im not sure what's more absurd, the notion that I'm chest thumping over a 10-9 win that extended Will Muschamp's head coaching career past the first weekend in October, or the suggestion that I or any UF fan would "kill to have a coach like Butch" who has yet to prove anything in the SEC.

And no matter who coaches Florida in 2015, it will be improvement over the mouthbreather we just fired, who damn near burned the program to the ground.

You have no clue wtf you are talking about.

Muschamp: bad offense, great defense, good recruiter

Dooley: underachieving offense, worst defense in school history, recruiting classes loaded with 2 & 3 star diamonds in the rough, lack of discipline, losing the team - see 2011 Kentucky, widespread academic issues on the verge of APR penalties, all losing seasons, 1 SEC win other than KY or Vandy

It's really not even close.

He had 2 conference titles. Stoops has 8. I don't see the similarities.

Stoops is in a crap conference. He reminds me of Tressel as definately good but slightly underwhelming given the opportunities.

Chip Kelly isn't coming to Florida IMO. It makes no sense. If he wanted to stay in college football he had already built a powerhouse in Oregon. He would have just stayed there.

Does it matter? Lol

Bob Stoops is an elite CFB coach.

Bob Stoops was an elite CFB coach. However, average Bob Stoops would still create a nasty team down in Gainesville. Not sure how much longer he's sticking around though. And I mean coaching in general.

Throwing out some names (not the usual suspects) in no particular order:

Willie Fritz - Georgia Southern
- 1st in FBS in rushing yards per game (385 avg)
- 10th in points per game (40.6 avg)

Jim Mora Jr. - UCLA
27-10

Kyle Whittigham - Utah
83–42
Worked out good for the Gators the last time they hired a Utah coach.

He was given a show cause I do believe. He had no choice but to leave college football.

But he isn't leaving the NFL now. He is doing just fine there and making a ton of money.

I missed where I said Muschamp was a worse coach than Dooley.

Other than this post I don't recall mentioning Dooley at all.

I waive the SEC banner as much as anyone, but it really is overblown.

I have no doubt in my mind a coach worth a damn would have cake walked his way to a 10 win season in his 4th year in 2014.

South Carolina won 11 games from 2011-2013 and I was less than impressed with them in terms of being a true contender. I thought they were solid, not spectacular, and they had 11 wins a season.

I have day dreamed a little bit this season about some Gator teams of the past and what they would do with this schedule.

Doug Johnson/Jesse Palmer teams would have easily been a 10 game winner with this schedule.....with a whole lot of blowouts.

So, long story short, the right coach I don't think would have much trouble with this division.

Florida's schedule is as tough as anyone's in the country and I don't think their record would look any different if you put them in the Big 12.

16 years
8 conference titles
4 national title game appearances
1 national title

Yeah, that's totally underwhelming because he's not coaching in the SEC.

Fritz isnt ready for the big time yet.

He's a great coach yes. I believe he's been aided in those opportunities by where he coaches at though. I think a home run coach has more than 1 title with all those opportunities too. Jmo.
His last NC was 14 years ago. Heck he lost one of them to you guys. He lost to Texas last year and fell off this year after much hype.
I'm with 99 in that any decent coach will do well at UF. I think though you should go for a younger guy and look more towards long term. Expectations on Bob Stoops at UF would be off the charts. Is that what he wants? He has as easy or an easier time of making the big dance at OK as you alluded.

So based on your criteria only Nick Saban and Urban Meyer are home run hires.

Not at all. Stoops would be talk of the town home run for you guys. Tons of money tons of expectations and tons of pressure.

I just question if Stoops best days aren't behind him.
