UF Coaching search (Merged)

To try and clarify. I think 9-10 years ago Stoops isn't just a home-run hire he is THE homerun hire. 9-10 years is a lot of water under the bridge though.

This whole topic brings up a point. There are a number of great coaches that spent a life time having excellent seasons but not repeating a NC. I guess the guys that repeat should he defined as Elite maybe.

Fulmer
Bowden
Stoops
Mack Brown
Spurrier

Funny thing is all of those guys were up and comers when they started at the places where they won their championships. Aside from maybe Brown who was at UNC so long.

We've gotten to the point where we have lost our minds.

I want a national championship again like anyone else, but that's not close to the norm.

Florida has 3 national titles in over 100 years of football.

A coach who usually has you in the discussion is a home run hire.

A coach who has you ranked every season is a home run hire.

The "lol" at Mark Richt or coaches with similar levels of success is really dumb.

I'm baffled that people are seriously under the impression that Tresses or especially Stoops aren't all time greats. I do agree that Stoops' best days are behind him, but his overall resume says all it needs to. I think Florida should look in the same mold of someone that will call Florida home for quite some time. Stoops probably sees light at the end of his tunnel.

I don't disagree but if I am an AD then I'm not sure I want a guy like Stoops that would require huge sums and whom could hardly live up to the Saban like expected results that would be desired. Most great coaches got a big break and made their mark at said school. That's what the numbers suggest. Very few lateral success stories outside of guys that went NFL and came back. In which case if you like that recipe you go Harbaugh or Kelly.

Mark Richt takes more crap from UGA fans than he deserves.

Lol at thinking UF fans want USC type records. You just got done ****ting on them yourself.

The one coach I would dread UF hiring is Kelly (because we already face Saban). Outside of that whomever you hire is likely to have enough success to beat UT in a given year because you already did it with Muschamp. We need to take advantage in the transition period however.

That's not what I did. My point was that winning 10 games with the current schedule wasn't a fairy tale dream.

If a coach consistently has Florida ranked, I'll be happy. Can't speak for anyone else.

But, if the next coach wants to have 11-2 seasons, I'll take it all day.

You've always been a reasonable guy regardless of fanbase. LW too for that matter. This coaching debacle we have been through leaves me feeling the same way as far as expectations. That said outside of Bama and Auburn I don't know a fan base with higher expectations than UF.

Part of that (and I plead guilty) is that most of us have no respect for anyone in the division as a real threat except for Georgia.

Most Florida fans believe on a year in, year out basis there's no reason they shouldn't be better than the rest.

Prior to Dobbs emergence I would have completely agreed the trend would continue even going into next year. Just like you guys benefited from Tebow I believe UT is achieving parity as part of a top 3 in the division and can/should take advantage in an interim regardless who you hire.

I'm not talking year to year. I'm speaking broadly.

Most Gator fans would tell you that if Florida is being run competently, that they generally would not be concerned about the rest of the division outside of Georgia.

That doesn't mean you don't get beat from time to time.

I understand i'm simply saying I have confidence for once that UT is headed that direction. To steal some wind. We'll see.

You mad bro? I would be if our recruiting class was sandwiched between Texas-San Antonio and Texas State

Florida is pretty much a lock for three five star guys, including the number one recruit in the country. As long as they hire someone with a pulse, they'll finish in the top 10.

Then you have a higher opinion of yourselves than you should.
