UF recruiting Woes

Take that shot if you want, bad news is your team is knee deep in it. Our previous years of mediocrity will not relieve your future suck.

Whatever you say.

For a second there I thought it was 2005, when Meyer's spread offense would never work in the SEC.

Or 2009, when Kiffin would teach Meyer a lesson with the greatest coaching staff ever assembled.

Or 2011, when Dooley's pedigree would coach circles around that caveman Muschamp.

Or 2012, when UT was going to kill us in front of a sellout crowd at Neyland.

Or 2014....

At some point it's got to happen right?

Clearly McElwain doesn't have what it takes to recruit or succeed in the SEC.

At this point that remains to be seen (I know that's what you are implying)

But honestly, he should and probably could have come in and flipped a couple of 4 and 5 stars already. I don't know if he's slow playing the recruiting field or has an ace up his sleeve in order to make a big splash on NSD, but as a minimum, at least one of the Rivals 250 should have been sealed up already.

Just my take on it.

You could line up 100 college football fans from across the country and 90 of them couldn't name Floridas coach and if you told them his name they still wouldn't know who he was. Now think about recruits and I'd say it's higher

See, that's the other thing...I'm not exactly in awe or in fear of Butch Jones.

He's improving the talent level for sure, and he's recruiting very well...but is he a championship coach?

Jury's still out on that, just as it is on McElwain coaching and succeeding in a big boy football conference.

By December 2016 we'll have all the answers to these burning questions.

You had better start to fear him...

Eh. If he comes in and develops players like it appears he has in the past and he can show a positive direction he ll get better players. It may not be this year but it won't take long.

If Jones starts going the wrong direction recruits will forget who his pretty quick

As if Butch Jones was on everyone's short list three years ago.

Was it just this year or have I been asleep over the last decade? I think a wise philosopher by the name of the Nature Boy once said, "To be the man you have to beat the man"

That's very astute (blue font). But you'll never beat the man by crying over the fact that you never beat the man. Strap it up for 2015 and let the rest of that ish go!

No Florida fan should remotely fear anything about Butch or certainly Tennessee at this point. Tennessee should be an afterthought or even considered in the same vein as an out of conference type game. Even when Florida only posted 4 wins, had one of their worst head coaches ever running things and got mud stomped by Georgia Southern 2 years ago, they still easily dominated Tennessee. If I were a Florida fan, I'd yawn when seeing UT on the schedule kinda like we do with Vandy....and we've lost 2 of 3 vs vandy, not won 10 in a row. Fun fact...even if we win the next 15 games vs Florida (bahahahaha!!)we'll still have a losing record vs Florida since 1976.

To be fair, UT didn't have a reason to fear Spurrier his first 3 seasons at Florida.

Apparently Cowart told UF's coaches he'd be wearing orange and blue next season.

Bad news is he didn't specify which shade of blue.

HG, thoughts?

Good point...forgot about that.

Absolutely NO way for anybody to put a positive spin on the Spurrier era at Florida on UTs behalf..... or Doug Dickey's era or Pell's era, or Galen Hall's era or Meyer's era, or Muschamp's era, or .......

I almost hate to see national signing day arrive. This thread has become some of my best fapping material. Here's to UF sucking for years to come!
