UNC and Duke Basketball, 2015-16

Lol, the overreaction.

Haha it's more because of the stupid posts I've seen on Facebook recently. Duke wanted Thornton to stay, Thornton wanted a bigger role that he wasn't guaranteed to get at Duke. It sucks but it's not that big a deal

I'm sure that Thornton can find a good home somewhere, but it's really sad that he's let this crew over inflate what he's actually shown as a contributor.

Perhaps he winds up at a smaller scool where he can shine, but he needs lots of coaching up.

Lol, the overreaction.

It's more that I can't stand kids that have handlers or people around them that are in it for selfish reasons. I've played with guys like that, I've coached guys like that and they are the biggest pain in the ass ever or actually their parents are or uncle or cousin or brother . They end up being a cancer to the squad and ruining team chemistry.

They're going to recruit the best players. Pulling loaded classes means some highly touted recruits end up on the bench when they'd start for other schools. So they go to those other schools.

That's it. It's pretty simple, really; I'm not sure why you get all worked up and suggest that it's "immoral" or whatever

It's not immoral. It's strictly business, Fredo. Strictly business.

It's the new era of college basketball.

Kinda disappointed to see this. He was gonna be the only experienced true PG on the roster next year and had a great chance to start. Sure, he had his mishaps but he definitely improved throughout the course of the year. I, for one, thought he was the best on ball defender we've had in a few seasons. He started 20 games this year and averaged about 25 mins per game I think. I'm not sure what else he was looking for honestly. Not many players on Duke's team next year are going to average more than 31mpg if that and he was definitely in line to get his fair share of them. It's a shame so many are in his hear telling him to do this, from all reports I've seen he loved Duke and wanted to stay but other ppl got involved.

I think him leaving means that Grayson will be the PG next year and why I think Grayson may have stayed another year. Grayson's position in the league will be a PG due to his size and this gives him the opportunity to show he can do that and this is the only way he can improve his draft stock. He's a proven scorer so him scoring 20ppg next year wouldn't have helped at all. This will allow him to be a more multi-dimensional player. I think our starting lineup next year will be:
Allen
Jones
Tatum
Giles
Jefferson

With maybe Kennard or Jackson taking over for Jones midway thru the season. JMO though.

Completely agree with the lineup. Some Duke fans freak out when I post that same lineup with Jones starting and Jackson coming off the bench.

It's not my favorite and I definitely don't love it. I would like Jackson or Kennard to start ahead of him, but he is good at D and K loves him so I think he starts to begin the season.

Duke will win every time we step on the court this year....

That is all

Your statement duke will when every time we step on the court don't you guys get tired of being a Vol football fan and a duke ,unc or Kentucky fan.I see so many people who live in Campbell and Claiborne and Grainger counties that claim to be Vol fans in football but in basketball they wear ky or unc hats and duke badketball shirts.I have been a fan of other teams to a point back 30 years ago but I always thought it was wrong to be a Tennessee fan in football cause they are normally a good team and you asall are fans of those others in basketball because they win.I don't think it's much better than those bandwagon fans who every time a team wins superbowl they have thousands of fans show up and claim they been a fan for life then same thing the next year with a different team.be all Vol

I grew up in Virginia and North Carolina. I've been a Duke fan since the late seventies. I moved to Knoxville in 1990 and living here have become a huge UT fan. I donate as much or more money to UT as I do my own Alma Mater lol. I'm still a big fan of Duke basketball though. Hope that helps you understand the complexities of my fandom.

I think it's the 2nd to last sentence that gets people. It's being a fan of one sport rather than the university as a whole that most don't understand.

I'm a Duke fan and a UT fan. It's possible even though it doesn't work for others. I pull for Duke football as well as UT basketball. Luckily I have never had that conflicting game in either sport. But if you're questioning my Vol fandom we can compare how much each of us donate yearly. I'm a season ticket holder in football and have really good seats.

Edit: I also played football at App State and graduated from UNCC so now that UNCC has football those are two more schools that I support. Go figure? But it works for me. I will be extremely conflicted for our season opener next year lol.

Edit: I was thinking about your point as I was riding my bike this morning. I grew up a Duke fan. Growing up in ACC country you typically will choose a school to support and mine was Duke. I also really enjoyed going to football games at Clemson as the girl I dated had parent who were Clemson Alum. I became a UT fan watching UT battle back and tie a hard fought game against Colorado in the early 90's. Being an ex player, I had so much respect for that team battling back against a very good Colorado team after going down by 20+ points at the half. It takes great character not to pack it in in a game like that. All that being said there is a deeper affinity for schools you have attended and even more for your Alma Mater. I'm assuming you went to WKU so you probably understand my point.

I wasn't questioning your fandom rather expounding on the other posters point. There are fans out there who like 1 school in 1 sport and one in the other. Had a "friend" in HS who was an FSU fan but pulled for UF in the 2000 MBB tittle game and when I asked about his FSU fanhood he said I like them in football but UF is my college basketball team. How convenient.

Got a neighbor who told me he's a UT football fan, UK bball fan and LSU baseball fan. I thought to myself; over the course of history he's rarely losing haha.

To answer your last question, yes. I attended WKU for graduate school and UT for undergrad. Spent a year between the 2 at Clemson. Loved the school and town but the arrogance on SEC little brother syndrome turned me off to their athletics.

Just saw where the latest notice of allegations against UNC no longer mentions mens basketball or football. Crazy how the elite gets their &&&& brushed under the rug but the NCAA would hammer a school like Praire View A&M

Have you ever been to a game at Cameron Indoor? Did you apply to school at Duke during any point in your life?

The reason I ask is because I couldn't ever pull for a school that said I wasn't good enough to attend

Yes I have been to several games at Cameron. And no I never applied to Duke because I was not recruited by them in high school.

They'll still be good enough to beat a bunch of freshmen on any given night if everyone returns
