UNC basketball

I don't know how many times I have to tell you all: this was in the forecast. Duke's classes were cancelled around noon. They had plenty of time to make it in. They farted around. (Why? You be the judge.) Two weeks ago UNC made it to GT in worse conditions.

Seriously, I don't know what else I can do for you. I'm trying to meet you half way, and you keep pushing me back.

You don't live in NC anymore. I do. You didn't see the coverage of weather conditions starting early on. I did. Maybe Duke was delaying deciding, seeing if things would get better. Maybe the UNC people who decided to go to GT were sweating bullets and afterwards told each other that they dodged a major bullet.

I frankly don't give a rat's whatever about UNC/Duke, but your blathering about "They canceled classes at noon; they had all day; UNC made it to Atlanta" is both specious and tiresome.

You're kinda shrill here.

:hi:

eta: sorry, RDU VOL, I didn't see your post above. Very well put.

Every basketball game in North Carolina on Wednesday was canceled, including Duke-UNC. There is no possible way Duke could have gotten home after the game (driving on solid ice through abandoned cars in a bus doesn't usually work too well), and everyone on Earth can see this except UNC fans who want to believe Duke is "scared" of playing a team it absolutely demolished in Chapel Hill at the last meeting (with Hairston and Bullock, btw).

Duke will "live this one down" just fine. IMO, it'll be UNC fans trying desperately to bring it back up.

Sorry, guys. Ya'll are right. It was unsafe for travel that night. A basketball game is just a basketball game. Not life or death.

Duke doesn't have a thread so I'll post this here: I want those all white shorts. I didn't understand how they honored the 91-92 teams though.

I didn't get it either, because they weren't throwbacks, but I like the shorts. Definitely going to pick some of those up.

Bobby Hurley (and issues with fathers coaching their sons) made me a Duke fan as a kid. They've had the stripe at least that long and from pictures I know the Dawkins/Bilas/Henderson teams had the blue stripe on the shorts, just not jersey. But, those shorts are sweet. I read that they will be available in March.

Honestly, the only uniforms I think look good at all are Duke's and, sadly, UNC's. Carolina Blue still makes me vomit, but it's a good uniform look. Kentucky is close, but I don't like those gray vertical stripes:

I think Duke's, UNC's (just threw up in my mouth) and Syracuse's look really good. I don't Think Duke got the stripe on the jersey until '87 or '88 and they angled it on the shorts probably in the mid 90's when they debuted the black alternates. I wish UNC would rock those unis with NC intertwined. Those were great. I loved how they played in those things. What the hell was Jordan brand thinking?

I think you have it backwards.

Hurley, Laettner, the Hills, etc played with both stripes.

oh, gotcha. I think they went with the angle just before they added the black. But the mid nineties is about right. I know Wojo, Capel and Parks played with the triangled short stripe. Remember the year or two they had that awful stripe on the top of the shoulders?

I don't. Should be interesting to see who Duke puts on him on Thursday.

Only chance for UNC is for him to stay out of foul trouble, and be consistent on Offense.. He did well on Randle for the most part, so I'm interested in seeing him try to check Jabari.. Randle helped by trying to show his perimeter game, instead of posting... So hopefully Jabari does the same

You mean the ones they were wearing when Stackhouse dunked on both Parks and Meek as they each took futile attempts at fouling him on his way to the rim? Yeah, those were hideous.

I think Tokoto will spend some time on Parker as well.

Yeah I choose not to recognize that particular year. Those were really bad memories, much like Regulators previous posts, that he reminded me of, while Duke was wearing those bad unis.
