Uniform/Helmet/Shoe design thread (merged)

No matter what orange shade they decide to go with it will still look different from material to material, wet vs dry, in direct light, on tv vs in person, ect. It's pretty much impossible for it to look the same, even when it's the exact same colour that used across the board.

Y doesn't Texas or Clemson have this problem ?

Santa, I want less stupid ppl, wanting to mess with tradition. We have the most unique and only color of orange in all of the colleges. Please don't mess with tradition. They only wore black 90+ years ago because the didnt have orange fabric. We are the Big Orange, and we are Great. 🍊🍊🍊🍊💯💯💯

Unfortunately most kids don't care about tradition. They love the alternate/3rd Jerseys and much louder fashion. Not saying go away from who we are but a alternate Jersey once a yr doesn't mean tradition is lost. And face it style means more to kids these days than any generation before them. And players love the alternate jerseys and since they are the ones wearing them they deserve to get one atleast once a yr. It creates excitement for them. We all saw how much they loved the Smokey Grey's last season. It excited the players and they voted to wear it again on SR Day. Hope they do some kind of alternate Jersey for them to wesr for the bowl game. If that's what they want then they certainly earned that right.

Excellent link--thanks.

Back in the '60s our white numerals looked cream-colored from the stands. Doubt that it was intended. Probably the paint formula tended to yellow, or maybe it was the orange underneath showing through.

But what's odd is back then it was easy to find Tennessee swag with cream or off-white instead of pure white. In the early '70s I remember wanting to replace my tattered and outgrown orange-on-cream Vols sweatshirt, but they had all been replaced by stark white. I'm sure the introduction of polyester helped account for that, but I still miss that aged, less garish look of off-white.

So a lot depends on when you came of age as a Vol fan. Which is why I approve of black for all centenarian Vols.

:)

Checkerboard pattern needs no place on the uniforms (even on sleeves underneath jersey). Looks absolutely hideous at best.

Keep it only in the end zone. JMHO

Just shows what happens when designers get bored. The UGA helmet looked even worse than ours.

Depends on your definition of 'designers'. I tend to believe that simply being able to use a computer to create a a design is not the same thing as being a designer. That distinction might seem nuanced, but it is like the difference in playing Madden on XBOX and actually coaching a football team.
