Uniform/Helmet/Shoe design thread (merged)

I know what you said @DeerPark12, but the 3 stars on the crate make me think the tri-star might be in play .

It’s possible that they put the Tristar/State logo from the cream basketball jerseys on there somewhere, but that’s only supposed to be on throwback uniforms.

Unless they have a serious departure from what I was told independently by someone at Nike and someone at UT involved in the brand standards, you won’t see any logo other than the Power T on the football helmets.

That’s a shame. I’d love to see the interlocking UT or Rifleman on a helmet. On a Uniform would be cool too.

Not going to happen as long as the current group is in charge. Unless it’s a true throwback uniform to a time where another logo is present, you’re only going to see the Power T and the Lady Vol T on uniforms and helmets. I don’t expect the Dark Mode interlocking UT hats to survive when baseball gets its new set next year unless the throwback they picked includes it.

When you say current group, who does that mean? I understand that the Power T is the brand, it should be, it has been for a long time. I don’t think there’s anything wrong w/ mixing in some old school stuff occasionally . They should definitely not do away w/ the interlocking UT baseball caps.

The current administration. Danny has a whole team of people that focuses on how Tennessee’s brand is applied across all platforms. They have a 15-page style guide for licensees and even the teams to follow. After the deer antlers and the interlocking UT hats from baseball, every piece of equipment worn by teams for practice or games has to be approved by a member of the branding committee before it can be ordered.

But big picture, even in a world of alternate uniforms and all, they want the T to be the brand for the men’s teams and the Lady Vol T to do the same for the women’s teams.

Good stuff . Thanks for the info.

People like to complain about lawyers. Accountants and marketing people have pissed on more parades than lawyers have. Leave the interlocking UT baseball hats the hell alone.

Edit: But thanks for your insight as always, DP, didn’t mean to yell at the messenger.

I’d love to find the deer antler on the hunt t-shirt. Anyone know if they are still available anywhere?

Man I love the smokeys but would really like our first game of the year to be in traditional orange and white

Agree with that, but Chattanooga is also kind of a scrimmage that goes in the books.

It's crazy how much money rides on all these little details. In high school always enjoyed the practice wear far more than anything else until it got cool. My coach received a huge box of them big hole jerseys from somewhere. We'd dig in into it and be passing around duck tape if anyone needed a number. Best thing to play in.

The Tennessee across the chest is not good. It just isn’t . That’s serious Big 12/mid major vibes.

I've never understood why football teams have anything written on the front of the jerseys. Basketball, baseball, softball, I get, but football? You should know who the team is without having to spell it out. Which is a reason I support the helmets always having the Power T even if the helmets are different colors. Some of these teams have so many alternate and throwback helmets it's hard to tell who they are. LIke Oklahoma St. back in the Barry Sanders days they had a very recognizable look; now they have like 5 helmets and 20 uniform combos.
