Uniform/Helmet/Shoe design thread (merged)

This is honestly the most beautiful alternate ive ever seen. very impressive. classic look with a modern cut and style. i hope the one we use is similar to this. an orange helmet with the power T on one side and numbers on the other would make me lose my mind! lol. fantastic work.

I agree completely .

did you guys notice that DP still didnt refute the gray uniform rumor? hahaha im just foolin' DP.

From what I understand, the 1914 jerseys were not black, they were more of a dark gray, based on the some of the samples former players' families have. They may have faded, certainly, but the 1904 jerseys were definitely black and appear darker in photos than the 1914s.

I think this may be post from DP to pay the most attention to. That's a whole lot of info about 100 year old jerseys, including families providing samples, for the AD not to have some purpose in obtaining it. I REALLY hope I'm wrong, because I want UT to at least stick to it's school colors, but I'm starting to fear we'll be seeing gray uniforms this fall.

good catch 0037. id much rather have the throwback than something wild and outrageous. like i said, replicating the 1914 uniform with a little bit of a modern twist will appease fans young and old. you might even dig it once you see it.

If it incorporates non school colors I won't like it regardless of how good it looks. The gray mock ups that rockytop posted look good, but have no business in Neyland Stadium because our colors are orange and white. I honestly still hate the black trim in our road unis. I would like to think something decent could be created using our colors.

You do realize those unis I made are a modernization of uniforms that the team actually wore, right?

Regardless of what the team was wearing 100+ years ago, today and for the duration of all of our lifetimes, UT's colors are and have been orange and white. That's the colors I want to see when I watch on Saturday's, not grey and orange, orange and black, or some other combination. That's just my opinion. For plenty of reasons I don't understand or agree with, I know a lot of other people don't feel the same way.

Arguing school colors isn't what I'm doing. I agree. We shouldn't be wearing random black and grey uniforms.

But to say something doesn't belong in the stadium that was literally used on the field at UT is stupid. Being against massive alterations is one thing, being against historically inspired throwbacks is another.

I'm more than likely looking way to far into this, but this is an old advertisement that was used for this year's O&W game. Orange, white, grey.

For my tastes, I could see this uni in a one off throw back scenario. But I'd rather see a white throw back helmet with it. The orange helmet with this combo just makes me think of how much I don't want to look like the Cleveland Browns...unless this is just a ploy for more Haslem money????

Interesting. Thanks, DP.

I've got another mockup here, something similar to what I think adidas would actually do.

Adidas - the brand with 3 stripes -- plus these look like Chicago Bears jerseys

I don't mind the black cleats nearly as much as black or other colors on the rest of the uniform, but I definitely prefer the ones we've had the last several years.

So the guys who built the tennessee traditon then shouldn't be remembered now? Thats what throwbacks are for. Dp said for one game. Id much rather see gray than black.

I never once said they shouldn't be remembered. There are ways to honor teams that don't require the football team wearing non-school colors during a game. The only thing I've really been adamant about is that we should wear exclusively orange and white.

I really wish someone would post that all black uniform and talk about how cool it would be once a year.
