Uniform/Helmet/Shoe design thread (merged)

So people don't like black uniforms but they like those hideous tan ones? interesting I appreciate the time spent doing them, but that tan throwback would be the laughing stock of the nation if we came out in those.

I wasn't a huge fan of them but they weren't bad. There's a very BIG difference though between putting a shade of brown with dark red or green and brown or tan with gray.

The team literally wore that combination for quite a few years at the start of the century.

So I guess you thought the widely acclaimed Packers throwbacks and the Redskins throwbacks were the laughingstock of the nation?
I did not realize those two professional teams wore the same colors as us? I also never realized that if one team can pull if off then that means anyone can. I guess we should wear black uniforms after all. It is impossible to compare those uniforms simply because the colors are not the same. Having two shades of brown along with orange and gray would never flow.

But yes...this is disgusting...I am sure it looked great in the early 1900's , maybe, but probably not.

That being said, the Redskins looked good since it works with their colors.

OHH and can you point out how that uniform is traditional for UT? I could not find that design anywhere in our past?

I understand that. It doesn't make them any more attractive to me. I actually thought it was a much darker gray...almost black.

This however is pretty good looking and since a few teams have successfully wore black then that means these could be widely acclaimed uniforms....

I liked this thought so I did one up like the Redskins used when they did their 80th anniversary unis. You can't really see it on this size image but there's a subtle leathery pattern on the helmets.

That’s the spot. Looks so bizarro-world that people will be forced to learn the history of the Tennessee uniforms. Apparently that Power T was around well before Neyland got here, even.

And from a marketing perspective, you’ll have the black(ish) jersey’s the youths are always clamoring for. Meanwhile, the “tradition!!!!” crowd can rest assured that they aren’t trying to just flip the colors on the jersey to add more black.

Here’s the Redski-...er...team from the Washington D.C. area’s throwbacks from 2012.

Top left corner. In service for 11 years.

BTW, people STILL hate that black outline on the away jerseys. Even though you can’t read the frickin’ number without it, they hate it. Because, you know, tradition.

Looks like a Starter Halloween set.

Either way, it's been mentioned 100 times that the alternates won't be a hideous shade of black and orange.

Anyway, the people still wanting black uniforms are behind the trend. Let's all jump on the bandwagon that blew by two seasons ago, that'll make us look cool with recruits.

Just change the orange to gold and put a V on the side of the helmet. It would make a great Vandy uniform.
