Update Me on Lindsey Nelson Renovations

What's the deal here? I saw a number of folks on Twitter say the UT admin really needed to give these updates the go ahead. I thought I remembered that a plan had already been approved to be done in stages. What's the word on this?
The plan was for $60 million upgrades. Now UT is requesting an additional $40 million to bring the cost to $100 million for renovations. It will get approved but this is why there is more red tape.

Hoping through engineering and architecture they can put a huge increase in suite seating, to knock down publically viewed empty seats.
@preacherman20 is responsible for 2 empty seats. Maybe we can get him to sit down when we know they are doing a crowd shot?
If it helps you to keep the flame of hatred lit for LSU, the Mississippi Trooper who led the police escort for the BaseVols said LSU team was awful. He said the Vols were the finest example of respectful, polite young men he had encountered.
A reminder for why I’m going to hold my nose and pull for FL tonight.

Be nice. I could sell them on ticketmaster and have them filled each game. Instead I just use them to get 2 people in the doors who hold up a wall all game long. But we did have a nice winning streak at home while we were holding up that wall.

I should have put in blue font. 🍊😃👊 Hopefully you knew I was just kidding. Glad you held up the wall wearing that checkerboard jersey! 🍊👍😃👊😀👍🍊🍊

I can attest. I witnessed. First rate wall holding.

That's a hell of an increase percentage-wise. Makes one wonder about the design team if they missed the initial cost estimate by that much, or if they've added that much to the stadium seating/amenities.

Edit - I see by the posts above that they are talking 7500 seats vs the 6000 seats previously. I was a critic of the intial plan, saying they were giving too much space to plazas and we should have more seats for the fans. Kudos to the powers that be if that's the case.

You kept track with the Smokies stadium build?

No, what's happening there? Let me guess - cost overruns?

Yep. Randy Boyd is a smart fella, but the red tape to do something takes years, so initial budgets don’t mean squat. Not to get cute, but to get into the “ballpark” 3 years ago, probably ain’t gonna cut it today. Building materials are high, supply chain issues, you name it. He’s a helluva lot smarter than me, no way I would leave where they currently reside, but he’s the boss.

This was my point to my dad when he said The Dude “only” cost 68 mil… building materials and labor cost a lot more than they did in 15-19 when they were renovating in Starkville. We’ll have a smaller, but comparable house to the dude amenities wise.

I built a store that was completed in July of 2021. I'm building the identical store in a different location now and it will end up costing twice as much.

I also have to believe that doing most of the construction between seasons instead of all at once adds cost as well.

give me a season at Smokies Park and let's get it over with. Buc-ees traffic may make this tougher to do now.
Im going to miss that stadium
