Urban Meyer Is a Dirt Bag!

Meyer: 'Failed' in denying I heard allegations

“My intention was not to say anything inaccurate or misleading. However, I was not adequately prepared to discuss these sensitive personnel issues with the media, and I apologize for the way I handled those questions."

In other words, I lied, I just didn’t mean to lie

What a joke
He will be coming back. I believe they are creating documentation as we speak and this will just be labeled a big misunderstanding. Hope I am wrong.

If the AD was the one who called him in then I don’t see a problem with what CUM did. He reported it to his boss. I hate the guy and thought this should take him out. But if his boss is calling the assistant coach that means he reported it up.
Why didn’t he fire him? Everything else is a cop out.

I agree. The ex Mrs. Smith under attack? They'll shut that down, in this environment that will NOT fly. Zach Smith? He's already gone. Urban's wife? He's already covered for her with his last statement and admission. This comes down to who has the juice to stay? It's between Urban and Gene who becomes the villain and gets canned in disgrace.
I think they’re BOTH gone.

I still think that if Urban wasn't a three time national championship coach, he'd be gone yesterday.

But it clearly didn’t. That’s why urban and only urban is on leave now.
I think it did.

I'm thinking back in 2015 Ohio St did their investigation and decided since there was no arrest, no charges, this guy is the grandson of Earle Bruce , he's Urban's guy for years now and they never saw any of her pictures.....Ohio St just said we don't see a need to act. But we'll put him on double secret probation, which is why he was fired last month for the most recent incident with his ex-wife. My guess is they'll release a statement at some point saying something like that if they don't try to hang Gene Smith. Maybe they didn't take it seriously in 2015 and that's what they're afraid of.

Meyer has said publicly now that he reported it in 2015 and acted appropriately. If he was lying about that and attempting to shift blame onto Ohio St for not firing Smith after he reported it to them, they would have called him out by now I think. That should be pretty easily verifiable. Why would Meyer lie about knowing last week? He didn't want to answer questions. Why? Because they'll make Ohio St look bad.

I think his "administrative leave while being investigated" is nothing more than Ohio St putting up a temporary barrier to build their story. Why is he being investigated if he reported it to them in 2015?

"Here is the truth: While at the University of Florida, and now at The Ohio State University, I have always followed proper reporting protocols and procedures when I have learned of an incident involving a student-athlete, coach or member of our staff by elevating the issues to the proper channels. And, I did so regarding the Zach Smith incident in 2015. I take that responsibility very seriously and any suggestion to the contrary is simply false."

This is Meyer saying he's innocent. Maybe it's just to protect his wife, but he's shifted responsibility onto Ohio St.

Brett McMurphy going all kinds of savage on Urban.

I feel like Brett has more evidence to release, he's just waiting for when the time is right to make them look even worse. Note to everyone: don't get on Brett McMurphy's bad side

Exactly. Meyer didn't have canned answers ready to answernotanswer whatever questions he was asked about Smith.

Either he was lying to protect him and his wife (and he's since stated he elevated it in 2015 so I think Ohio St would have refuted him had that not been true), or he was lying because it would make Ohio St look like they didn't take it seriously.

They haven't refuted him...yet.

I'd think that would be pretty easily verified. Meyer is still the head coach. Gene Smith is still the AD. This is only 3 years ago. Should be pretty fresh on everyone's mind what was reported and what actions were taken.

True, but not a lot out of the OSU AD at the moment save the original statement. And I doubt very seriously they'd go all out bashing their coach while an ongoing investigation is going on.

Let the world turn as they say.

I agree. They're going to take their time. I just think this investigation isn't so much into Meyer's actions, but a review of what was done and how they can construct the next few days events to make them look as favorable as possible.

Zach Smith has also come out and stated that Gene Smith knew about the 2015 incident.

Zach told ESPN he was summoned to discuss "this felonious domestic assault accusation" in 2015 by Gene. He also said Meyer discussed the incident with him that year -- confirming Meyer knew about it three years ago as opposed to just days ago as he originally claimed -- and threatened to fire him if he was found to have hit his wife.

Heat ratchets up as Urban Meyer, Zach Smith try to pass the buck in confounding media tour

Bottom line is: The head coach of OSU kept a coach on his staff that he knew physically abused his wife.

More overheard in buckeye land....

-Urban doesn’t deserve this. He and his family are getting drug through the mud
- It’s Zach Smiths wife’s fault for not pursuing this more earlier on and letting it get to this point

Good god
Oh...

Maybe I’m missing it. But if everything said in the Zach Smith interview is true then it seems Urban reported the 2015 incident up the chain. There was no arrest, no charge, nothing other than a report. Urban told Zach he was fired if he found out there was in fact spousal abuse.

So is the only thing we are talking about here is Urban lying at media days? Maybe I’m missing a big detail or have something wrong. Urban definitely should have pulled the thread a little more to see what was going on, and I think the dude is slimey and generally a ***hole. But without an arrest, or even a charge, what minimum requirement did Urban not meet? Zach has already been fired over the latest incident.

By the way, this is all dirty and I hope Urban gets what’s coming to him if there was any wrongdoing or coverup.

That is a pretty massive "if."

Oh I know. That why I said it up front.

If that story is to be believed though, the only thing that has happened here is Urban lying flat out at media days, which doesn’t look good at all and begs the question why.

More and more this looks like they are setting up Gene Smith as the scapegoat if somebody has to go down.

Z. Smith abused his wife. Do you agree with that point?

Urban's wife counseled the victim. There is no question about whether or not domestic violence took place. Urban Meyer knew it took place. He opted to keep a domestically violent man on his staff.

I'm with you. The thing is, if Meyer had handled it properly, then the lie makes absolutely no sense. He basically wants us all to believe that, although he presents himself as a paragon of virtue, his default response is to lie, even when the truth isn't problematic.

I saw a tweet where someone said that they will go after Bob Stoops if/when Urban is let go

You're more worried he lied than kept an abuser on staff?
