Urban Meyer Is a Dirt Bag!

Z. Smith abused his wife. Do you agree with that point?

Has he ever been charged of it? In both the 2009 and 2015 incident charges were never filed. In 2018 he was facing charges of criminal trespassing.

Not saying he didn’t abuse his wife. And just trying being objective here. The fact that his wife filed a protection order is telling. But when that happened he was summarily fired. I do agree with the point that Urban Meyer is a coach and not an investigator. If the police never charged ZS with anything should he have fired the guy?

You're more worried he lied than kept an abuser on staff?

No. I'm saying that the fact that he felt the need to lie indicates that the statement he released yesterday is nonsense. If Meyer reported it properly when it occurred, why lie at media days? By that point, everyone knew what Smith had done, and Smith had been fired.

The fact is, Meyer lied because he knew full well that he'd turned a blind eye to a serial domestic abuser. He lied about it because he knew full well what he'd done and thought he could get away with it.

He was pretty much in a no win situation when the question was asked. The only thing that he could have said was "I'd prefer not to comment on internal matters and focus on the upcoming season."

And they are going to put it on Gene Smith, give him a huge buyout and Urban continues to work

My bad. I thought you were agreeing with "the only bad thing UM did was lie at media days" part.

Uh, yeah. He should have fired the guy. He and his wife talked to both of them in 2009 and urged them to get counseling. He knew he was an abuser then. He never should have had him working around his student athletes.

That's just my opinion.

Certainly not disagreeing you. I’m also sensitive to the fact that some of these almost comes to the edge of victim shaming which is certainly not my intent. Do I think ZS is an abuser? Yes. That is absolutely clear now.

What I’m saying is it wasn’t absolutely clear in 2009 and 2015 without any charges filed. Meyer went on what he knew, and at the time what he knew was there were no charges. If Meyer had fired him in either of those cases then maybe the thinking was ZS could have have brought wrongful termination action against the university because there weren’t any charges filed to substantiate it.

The lying at media days doesn’t make sense unless there was something to hide. So in that regard, I’m really interested to see the result of the investigation and what we don’t know right now. It certainly smells like there was a coverup if some sort, but that hasn’t been proven yet.

If they did and investigation then, and they followed all proper protocols, then why the need to suspend Meyer now? It should be easy to produce all the proof and nip this in the bud. Clearly they didn’t do it

And the way he lied about it

If you believe that Meyer and his wife "counseled" them after the charges were dropped at UF in 09' and you get the slightest hint that carried over to OSU in any way? Wouldn't take much to convince me the second time. And I would bet that wasn't the second time someone had heard about it.

"Did you order the code red!?" Moment

It appears this woman was systematically failed by a lot of people when she reached out. Including direct family. Meyer is a pompous ass that did not think it would ever get public on her end.

Don’t disagree with any of that.

Lying about it was to cover up something. My guess is a halfhearted investigation by Ohio St after he reported it in 2015.

Does Ohio St try to whitewash their actions with "no arrest/charges" or do they hang someone. I think Urban is in the clear. He handed it off to Gene Smith so people should be looking at Ohio St right now. Urban will just say they did an investigation and I followed their suggestions after they found no real abuse.

They probably have 6 people in a room trying to manage this entire situation, coordinating Urban's comments, and making suggestions to Zach Smith on what to say and when.

Don’t disagree with any of that.
OSU is gonna fire the AD and go at the point that Urban did what he was obligated to do in reporting it to him. Since that info is starting to be leaked. The next issue they will come across from a PR standpoint is Meyer having previous knowledge that there were issues going on before he hired him at OSU and why Meyer didn't pull the plug if the AD didn't move the ball forward.

Because Meyer is a crooked SOB with a checkered past to go along with his trophies.

They are using this for the perception that they care about the real victim and justice while they put time and a goat in place to be chopped.

Yeah it was a knee jerk reaction to signal that they’re taking this serious. The problem is that it indicates they never took it seriously before. Which is the entire problem.

The restraining order “happened” THREE YEARS AGO.

The "investigation" is a show.
Been my opinion since he was put on administrative leave. They're just using it to buy time to craft their story of how they did they best they could with the information available back in 2015. That or they hang someone else in the AD.

They re only recourse is the AD (if Meyer is retained) if they re gonna try that which it appears they are.

It's the only way they can put off some resemblances of caring about it. It has to be higher technically than Meyer.

The foolish are those who think Meyer was being instructed on how to handle this from the AD. He was a puppet.
