Urban Meyer Is a Dirt Bag!

Urban continuing to employ the dirtbag that physically abused his wife is way worse than what Woody and Tressel did. Dude should be gone.

I saw an article earlier today on one of the local affiliates websites suggesting the investigation isn't so much about what Urban knew about the 2015 incident, but what Urban knew about Smith's domestic abuse history and should he have even hired Smith at Ohio St to begin with.

That’s easy.

No

So it's a law in Ohio a person is arrested if he is suspected of domestic violence, whether the victim brings charges or not? Did i hear that right?

If so, the Powell police department has a problem. And this cover up needs to blow wide open.

Urban is getting hammered in the media by many, the University is already going to take a huge hit here it looks like. I just don't see how they would risk the continued bad pr when a clean break would put this to bed in a year or two. There are a half dozen other coaches who could compete for titles who would sign on in a heartbeat. If OStU decides to keep Urban they deserve all the hell that breaks loose and then some.
It’s gut wrenching for them to let a coach at this level go. I understand them grabbing at every straw.

That's an excellent question.

I ll be surprised if that's actually true tho.

OSU is investigating how they can save their coach and put out the PR fire around him. That may cost someone else their job but don't doubt that is the objective at this point.

I agree. This is not being talked about enough. Why weren’t charges brought? They clearly should have been and the fact that they weren’t are giving everybody up to Gene Smith some cover in this. One has to wonder if Meyer or the university had a role in it and that is why he felt the need to lie at media days.

I think he lied cause he thought it was covered up and would never come to light.

To take that a step further, he comes off as the type that thinks its beneath him to be questioned in such way that discredits his moral standing. Of course, he needed to think she was going to continue to stay silent to be able to answer that the way he did. She didnt.

It took a while but the chickens found home.

He has shown who he is for years. People just didn't wanna see it.

Yep.
Getting by with that has emboldened him to think hes untouchable. This situation is gonna test that theory but its gonna be a substantial dent in his legacy even if hes retained.

Considering the whole NFL domestic violence thing, and in college too, I just don't know how osu is gonna be able to get by with not answering for their actions (inactions rather.)

It's a risk but I think it's setting up for them to sacrafice the AD and try to tamper the flames around Meyer claiming he followed protocol.

Their protocol sucks.

It's designed for high profile figures like him to have a lot of influence on a decision but not necessarily all the responsibility in the outcome. It's made to appear that the AD calls the shots since hes technically the coaches boss. Of course that's probably far from the truth.

Apparently, OSU fans think it's not a big deal.

Petition calls for Ohio State to 'save' Urban Meyer amid investigation

An online petition hopes it will draw enough attention to “save” Ohio State University football coach Urban Meyer over what he knew and did about domestic abuse accusations against a former assistant.

As of early Monday, the petition had garnered nearly 20,000 signatures and its goal was to get to 25,000 signatures. The petition was started by Buckeyes fan Blake Firestone.

“Urban Meyer is on the hot seat and can be wrongfully fired from Ohio State it is up to us Buckeye Nation to help him not just for him but for THE Ohio State University and the great state of Ohio!” Firestone wrote in the petition’s description.

Yeah, when you come out and say the investigation will be wrapped up in such and such days, you've already made your determination. He gonna skate right by this.

Well, if you ever wondered where the limit is for what wins can fix, this is it.

I'm more curious about this outside agency they hired. Hopefully, there are sportswriters doing their due diligence in tracking down the history of same to make sure there aren't any conflicts. OSU needs to be in the right on this, but it sure wouldn't be a shocker if they weren't trying something shady.

Anymore its not about actually being in the right, just building a public perception that you are. Main reason why the focus has shifted to Meyer being mistaken at media days and actually following procedure.

Meyer won't walk away from this completely unscathed but he will walk away with his job intact.

Possibly. There really isn't a historical precedent we can use in this case except maybe Baylor. Coach knows there are crimes going on and the Administration knows as well? Certainly not a side of history one wants to be on. Having said that to say this, OSU fans just won't care until Urban publicly admits to some pretty heinous crimes and even then they'd accept his apology and let him coach again.

I do feel you are correct though and he'll get through this unscathed.

It's not really an outside agency. Some are board of trustees members while some are not affiliated with the university. One of them is a Tennessee grad. Another has worked on some NFL investigative teams

The names you need to know in Ohio State's investigation of Urban Meyer

OSU knows they have to make a move to say we investigated and did "x". They just realize the AD is more replaceable than a guy with 3 NC rings and they have enough paper trail to do it.

He'll get some public kick back, most of which will come from outside the state of Ohio. Their fans will cry witch hunt and back him all the same.

The one thing he can't run from is his history knowing about this guy and his problems and yet continuing to hire and retain him. And make no mistake, he doesn't need this guy or a player to be convicted of a crime to fire him. That seems to be getting pitched around in the "innocent til proven guilty" idea from a criminal standpoint.
He's just fortunate the school is trying to frame the story about procedure and him following it. Im sure we will also hear about new steps being put in place to prevent this from happening in the future at OSU.
