Urban Meyer will never win a National Title without Tim Tebow.

Well said...with the recruits he has coming in....he should be able to win another w/o Tebow.
Brantley will be nasty. A different kind of offense will take place at UF. I foresee it kinda like the OU offense with Brantley at the helm, whenever that might be. Didn't say that Brantley is going to be as good as Bradford, but that is the kinda O that UF will run, IMO. Florida's staff will adapt to the strength of the team. It will certainly be D b/c we are loading up on D talent.

Let's discredit a future HOF coach, because he recruited one of the best college football players of all time. Yea, let's all be tools and do that.

How much does losing Mullen hurt?

I think CUM is good enough and will keep Florida in the top 5 to 10 for quite a few years to come. However, IMO Tebow put them over the edge. As much as I dislike UF and enjoy making fun of them and Tebow, Tebow is a special player that doesn't come around very often.

First of all, I agree that CUM is one of the best two college coaches right now, as much as it pains me to say that. Let's not forget though that Fulmer recruited one of the best college football players of all time, and look at where he is now.

Manning is certainly among the top 10 QB's in CFB history, but not one of the top 10 players. And besides, Meyer is something that Fulmer never was, someone who played to win, instead of playing not to lose.

In three years, he already has as many as UT. I expect he will get more.:cray::cray:

As much success as he's had at GAYtorland,..my bet is he'll be offered a HC job in the NFL, and hopefully we'll never see his a$$ again,..LOL

Last time I checked, both teams won the BCS title.
I thought the thread was about winning another National Title, not setting a record for PPG.

pete carrol is the best coach in the nation. I'm sorry he has better players and they were the best team in the nation this year. Sorry not the gators. Usc has the best d in the nation. They are more athletic on the entire roster than fl

wtf...

A few thoughts:

1) Paul Johnson is the best coach in the country. The guy turned Navy into a perennial bowl team and took Chan Gailey's leftovers to a nine-win season in his first year in spite of badly mismatched personnel.

2) Urban Meyer is the best offensive mind currently in D-1. He's a generational offensive mind, in fact...the previous one was Bill Walsh.

3) Tim Tebow is hardly a unique player either in the modern game or in years past. If you switched uniforms betweenTebow and Alex Smith circa 2004, you'd never be able to tell them apart.

What makes Tebow what he is is because he is one of the few that will ever be used the way that he is. Most option quarterbacks won't pass the ball this much, and most "pro-type" quarterbacks will never, ever be asked to run the ball like this.

4) Meyer can and will win without Tebow. The idea that no one can run this offense like Tebow is true, but then this offense is only similar to and not exactly like what Meyer ran at Utah or at BGSU. Trust me, I've got the playbooks to prove it.

Without Tebow they may have a better runner and worse passer, at which point the offense will be adjusted to compensate. They may have a better passer and worse runner, in which case the offense will be adjusted. This is Tebow's offense because it's perfectly tailored to him.

(as bad as I hate to say it) I would say Urban will win at least one more possibly several more as he seems to have a knack to adust his coach style and schemes to fit the personal that he has instead of the other way around, I don't think a lot of coaches have that ability.. Most seem to have to certain players to fit thier system instead of have the ability to change the way they coach to fit the personal.. Hopefully he will win the rest of them at ND instead of Florida... :)

Those are usually the best coaches.

The idea that Urban wouldn't win the 2006 NC without Tebow cracks me up. He's a genius that happened to have Tebow's short yardage ability as a tool, so he chose to use it when he needed it. Had it not been available, he would have found another way to get those 1-2 yards. DeShawn Wynn was pretty good in short yardage situations, as well.

Wynn was never a throwing threat. Tebow could actually throw it and our LBs had to make sure before we came all out. I'm not sayin he wouldn't have but I would rather tackle him than Tebow. Tebow is a freakin bruiser

I don't think Tebow threw a meaningful pass in 2006. Everyone knew he was going to run.
