I don't think Tebow threw a meaningful pass in 2006. Everyone knew he was going to run.
Just curious, how did we back into the game this year? The 2008 Gators aren't the best team nor is Tebow the best player. If you could wave a magic wand and have them play the '95 Cornhuskers again, you'd end up with the same result...Huskers running roughshod over UF's smaller but faster defense. Statistically Meyer may have one more NC in him somewhere down the road. It's not the end of the world and won't be, UF has flirted with an undefeated season several times and don't have one yet. They backed into all 3 NC games '96, '06 and '08 just as we backed into the SECCG last year (They needed help). I seem to remember Tebow playing in '07 and UF getting 4 loses including a beating by Michigan. The USC Trojans have just as much talent as UF and how has that worked out for them? The only reason the SEC has 3 in a row (AND THE ONLY REASON) is that the SEC has been considered the toughest conference in college football for the past 3 seasons....if not for that the SEC would probably have just 1 and it would not have been a 2 loss LSU team.

That's how college football plays out. What teams were you talking about that had to lose in order for the gators to "back in?"
Is that not the beauty of college football? Any team can play well and win on any given saturday. As for Penn State, they proved they weren't good. Texas Tech was decent, great home-field team, away games and neutral-site games they couldn't get it done. The part about backing into the BCS Nat'l Championship game is the part I didn't get. We lost 1 game in the toughest conference in the country by 1 point on an extra point. We played 11 teams that were in bowl games. We beat the #1 team in the country in the SEC championship game. What part was undeserving or how did we "back in?" In '06 we had help. That's college football. To play in the Championship game, everyone needs help. Were you referring the undefeated season and comparing it to UT's 98 season? As for Tebow - he was the best player in the country last year and this year. You know this. If he comes back to win another championship and possibly heisman, he will probably become the greatest college football player ever. As for the Gators this year, no they are not the greatest team of all time, BUT I would line them up against anyone.Didn't other teams have to loose for the Gators to move up in the rankings after their loss or did Tebow just lay hands on the polls and miracle their a*ses there. The same way UT got into the SECCG last year....we didn't take care of business and had to wait for UF and UGA to screw up. At week 5 UF was #12 after their loss and it took til week 13 to get into the top 2 in the AP, on Nov 2nd they were 5th in the BCS poll and had to wait for Penn State and Texas Tech to loose. Had Texas Tech not got thrashed or Penn State not blown a close game we wouldn't be having this discussion unless we were talking about UF in the Sugar Bowl.
I, for one, didn't say you backed in. That's college football. We didn't take care of business when we had the chance. No complaining here, we didn't get it done. UT finished strong and that D came alive. You played better towards the end. It's not about how you start, but how you finish. And last year UT finished strong.Evidently the 11 that were ranked ahead of UF after their week 5 loss.....im not knocking UF, they had a good year but they needed help. Going wire to wire, 14-0 is taking care of business, having to wait and be dependent on other teams to loose is backing your way in regardless of how good you are. You see, last year UT fans had to hear from UGA fans, Gator fans and LSU fans on how we backed into the SECCG....and how UGA should have been there when we beat the snot out of them head to head and did what we had to do to get there, I figure same rule applies now.

Pete Carrol is the best coach in the Nation. I'm sorry he has better players and they were the best team in the nation this year. Sorry not the gators. USC has the best D in the nation. They are more athletic on the entire roster than FL
Take Tebow out of the 2006 LSU game and UF loses hands down and no NC. Tebow was 2/2 passing for 36 yrds and 2 touchdowns, 9 rushing attempts for 35 yrds and a touchdown final score...23-10 and 18 of those points were Tebow's. If you remember that's the game where he threw the jump pass over LSU's goal line.

Chris seems to forget that UT had to have things happen for them to play in the NC in 98. Clint Stoerner fumble?!?! Also a missed FG in overtime versus FL. Also it must be nice to play FSU with their backup qb for the title.:good!:
The fact that you consistenly misspell "lose" tells me all I need to know.
He's been here a while. Probably more respected than you are. Just sayin...If you are referring to me, I could give 2 ounces of sh*t. When I post, I usually post late and could care less how it's spelled, it's an informal forum you idiot. You got the point didn't you....Anyone that joins another teams forum to spew their bullcrap is a prick anyway, that tells me all I need to know.
