US may have killed Quds Force Commander Qasem Soleimani

I don’t think this evolves into a full fledged war. For all we know, this is just the thing to get the attention of the leaders in Iran to let them know the gloves are off. They were bragging that Trump couldn’t do a damn thing, well he just did bigly.
You act like Trump crippled their military. lol.

Not their military but we took a huge chunk out of their command and some pro Iranian supporters that was with him . The strike ( good or bad ) was a gold mine.

I don’t act like anything. In the 80’s, Regan got Ghadiffi’s attention with a few missile strikes. It’s possible this could backfire and escalate into a massive regional war.

I wonder what Ghadiffi and Solemani are discussing today .

I dont remember people complaining about Obama droning bad guys in foreign nations. Bin Laden was one of the few things the Rs liked.
This isn't drone striking terrorist #42 for the year that's not affiliated with any govt.

This guy was Iran military leadership. How would the US respond if another country took out Mark Esper? Or Mattis last year?

We have the tech advantage but Iran has the advantage of terrain and playing in their home field. Iran air defense network is more sophisticated than Syria’s. Iran could launch asymmetric attacks for a while and we could trade blows but sooner or later we would have to take the war to them.
I think Iran could go toe to toe with our non ground systems for a round or two. I have a hard time believing they could go the distance. Not saying it would be pretty. But I believe the flip for ground forces.

I got a couple friends in the NG and reserves whose units have been deployed in the not so distant past. And they all said their units were not equipped for engagements at all. One even said they shouldnt even leave base with the lack of equipment at home. Cant imagine them doing it abroad with some of the stuff they mentioned.

AFAIK the active units are better off. But based on our past actions the active units need the support from the rest.

If this escalates, it will get very interesting to see what the ROE are moving forward. I do not believe that Trump will put American lives in danger with garbage rules that make them sitting ducks for cowardly attacks. Hope to not see any US personnel in danger period...other than the unavoidable accidents that happen from time to time.

If we or Irael are outright attacked because of this, it's a great time to bomb Irans nuclear capabilities back to the stone age. No more enriching Uranium. No more reactors...undue about 20 years or more of hard work and deceit.

We cannot allow Iran to become nuclear capable. Israel WILL NOT allow it. Smoking hole in the ground.

If they showed up in Mexico City after the Russian Mexican embassy (guessing that's in Mexico City) was attacked by US backed mobs, and there was intelligence the US was planning more actions, I would have some serious questions as to what the eff they were doing there. And what role they (US personel) played.

Granted this is just me and not the general public.

This guy isnt just a Mattis, this is also their Bolton (war hawk with hands in every dirty US action of my life time) and Haspel (head of our dirty intelligence service the CIA, even though I dont have much of a current beef with her) all rolled into one.

Solemani was with some other very dirty people high on most nations most wanted lists. He wasnt hanging out at the hospital or kissing babies.

Pretty much everyone agrees that in a vacuum this was a good move. Now we just have to see what the consquences are. Because this did not happen in a vacuum.

For me it boils down to exactly was the intelligence we had. Was it another Iraqi weapons of mass destruction claim, or was it actionable. As of yet I haven't seen any, so I am leaning towards the first because of Trumps dumb butt.

I liked Obama's pallets of cash foreign policy with Iran that had support from our Allies and provided more safety and security in the region for our troops and allies.

Depends on what they were doing when they were taken out. If they were meeting with leaders of a terrorist group while in a foreign country illegally like this guy, we'd probably make up some BS story and try to sell it to the public.

Of course you did. I bet you liked when Iran was messing with ship's navigation systems to get them to stray into Iranian waters so they could detain people. Obama giving Iran cash (which they used to fund terrorism) put our people in danger.

I like how the story is that Obama gave Iran cash instead of the truth... obama returned Iran's money that the US had stolen.

lol. You know the whole pallets of cash was debunked because it was their money and the goal was to keep them from becoming a nuclear threat right? Did you also know it was working? You have no proof that giving them their money back contributed to any act of terrorism, But you know what Trumps sanctions did on that front don't you?

I have to LOL at you again.

The Iranians are all talk. THey will probably do a couple of terrorist action type things, but a fullscale war with us and they are toast shortly. Especially with a New Yorker that ain't afraid to fight in office.
