I didn't really get the sense that people were very happy about that scalp going to Obama.

I for one, was crushing Obama for drone strikes, so there's that.

I got a couple friends in the NG and reserves whose units have been deployed in the not so distant past. And they all said their units were not equipped for engagements at all. One even said they shouldnt even leave base with the lack of equipment at home. Cant imagine them doing it abroad with some of the stuff they mentioned.

AFAIK the active units are better off. But based on our past actions the active units need the support from the rest.

Active Duty units depend on the Reserves for engineering and logistics. And you are correct the reserves and national guard are not equipped. The equipment would have to be drawn from a in theater site.

I don't have a problem with us taking this POS out, the world is better off. BUT Trump & Co better have a plan for the aftermath that doesn't include war with Iran.

I don't think Iran will launch an invasion of Iraq but I could see and expect to see some sort of retaliation. They will probably try to strike some of our ships in the gulf or lob some missiles at our bases in Iraq.

I agree. I have no issue taking the guy out. I'm just not confident that the US has a plan for what's coming.

I imagine the military and intelligence services do have such plans drawn up. The question is whether Trump has the sense to listen to them and do what's best for the US in the long term, rather than opt for his own short term gain. We have seen that with him before, unfortunately.

I guess I more meant the Rs. What I remember is people trying to diminish the act. But none hated on it.
