US may have killed Quds Force Commander Qasem Soleimani

Fear and confusion as al-Shabab fighters overran a U.S. airfield in Kenya

The brazen assault at Manda Bay, a sleepy seaside base near the Somali border, on Jan. 5, was largely overshadowed by the crisis with Iran after the killing of that country’s most important general two days earlier and is only now drawing closer scrutiny from Congress and Pentagon officials.
But the storming of an airfield used by the U.S. military so alarmed the Pentagon that it immediately sent about 100 troops from the 101st Airborne Division to establish security at the base. Army Green Berets from Germany were shuttled to Djibouti, the Pentagon’s major hub in Africa, in case the entire base was in danger of being taken by al-Shabab, an East African terrorist group affiliated with al-Qaida.
Reason number 88 we need to gtfo from these places

What do you think that would look like? Honest question. What level of bleed over will happen in neighboring countries when the tribes go to war?

That is an interesting question? While Iran does have numerous tribes, they seem to have stronger national identity than most of their neighbors. Makes me think that they might keep it confined to Iran for the most part, just an uneducated guess I'm my part though.

Well there are Sympathizers in other countries like Iraq, but I too would be limited to hazard a guess.

I was first thinking of all the outside groups they run and fund.

This is the real question. What does desperate Hamas and others do when 80% of their funding dries up as the mullahs are deposed??

Desperation makes for stupid moves. Small scale increase in attacks with rockets etc on Israel since they are so cheap...followed by counterattacks from IDF without mercy. Probably similar for the numerous other terror groups they fund. Then what???

Where do they secure their funding from for all their future attacks come from? Power always fills the vacuum. Maybe the good guys can prevent some of it though and leave these clowns permanently weakened. Nobody wants to be a terrorist on their own dime. When there is no paychecks or free food and weapons coming. I would bet that taking out their funding would be far more effective than any battlefield attacks could ever be at actually rooting out the problem.

I don't think you fully understand the depth of their fanaticism, er, commitment.

34 US service members diagnosed with traumatic brain injuries after Iranian missile strike - CNNPolitics

Trump said he "heard" they had headaches and a couple of other things. What the hell does he mean "heard". Doesn't he have someone who can report accurate information to him?

I deal with this phraseology of "traumatic brain injury," or TBI for short, in cases from time to time. The range of things that can be covered by this is enormous and sometimes deceiving. It can include a minor concussion that resolves very quickly. But it can include much worse.

Plaintiff's lawyers started using the phrase a lot about 5 years or so ago. They would go to seminars on how to inject the phrase in minor cases, to try to up the damages, sometimes quite deceitfully.

So in fairness, I would want to know which symptoms they have before I buy into the label, too much.

This a fair way to look at it.

Some drivers injure their "attorney bone" in minor fender benders.

Huge rally as Iraqis demand US troops pull out

Huge crowds have taken to the streets of Iraq's capital, Baghdad, to demand that US forces leave Iraq.
Powerful Iraqi Shia cleric Moqtada al-Sadr earlier called for a million people to join Friday's march, close to the US embassy in the capital.
Iranian-backed militias were among those protesting in the city.

We should absolutely get out of there. We never should have gone in to begin with. Crazy to say it, but the world was safer with Saddam in power.

Tensions high in Baghdad as police fire tear gas, live bullets

At about noon local time on Saturday, security forces fired tear gas and live bullets at Khilani Square, a few hundred metres away from Tahrir Square.

All this is run through al-Sadr who is Shia and backed by Iran. He has been an opportunist since the capture of Hussein in trying to wrest governmental control, with the support of Iran, from Iraqi’s.
