US may have killed Quds Force Commander Qasem Soleimani

Ah yes, the good ol' days when it was the victor's reward to steal the vanquished's wealth and rape the women.
As opposed to the much more civilized method of letting two wolves and a lamb vote on what's for dinner?

Mob rule doesnt provide any more moral or ethical reasoning than might makes right. Democracy is might makes right at its simplest, numbers.

I am skeptical too. But considering this was an undeniably bad guy, and there was little to no collateral I think that gets benefit of the doubt.

I think if our State Department or government in general had any bona fides in the world this gets talked away easily with most players. But again going back to at least Bushs WMDs we have been eroding all the good will we had for a while.

I am willing to give the US military and intelligence officials the benefit of the doubt on this action, as you put it.

I am less inclined to do so with Trump, but that is admittedly because I tend to question his motivations and the timing. It could absolutely be the case that it is coincidence that this happens now, i.e. that an opportunity presented itself and that we have been waiting a long time to act. It is entirely within the realm of reason that such is the case. I just have my lingering doubt about that and, yes, that is in large part because of my skepticism of Trump, himself. But I also recognize that it is highly unlikely that we will get insight into that process any time soon.

Obama was wrong about the video excuse during the last Embassy attack. Your post made it seem like there was a definite link to him being in the city and the "attack" on the embassy. If the embassy attack was the best the Iranian terrorist mastermind could muster, was he really that much of a terrorist mastermind.
Soleimani was apparently, as to proof I would use the fact that they died from the same air strike, in the same room as those who planned the attack.

I dont think he was the one who planned the specifics of the embassy attack. I suspect he was there to push the issue one way or the other. And given his past I seriously doubt it was a peaceful direction he was there to champion.

I made the comment last night and got horse laughed. But if we just took out Soleimani, why not just Assad and Putin on notice, as well? Or any other military or world leader on notice that disagrees with us. If you don't walk the line with the US, we drone strike assassinate you...
And I responded, and as per usual you ignore responses you cant respond to. If they were part of an embassy attack and in the same city I would say they are on the same block. But considering neither has stopped to that level I would say they are safe from these specifics.

Maybe someone needs to quote this and my op for Ras.

I have no problem in believing Trump has no long term plan with this.

This was simply a slow enough moving car where Trump was able to catch it and chew the bumper. Now he has to figure out what to do going forward from his instincts.

President Trump just retweeted a conservative commentator who suggested that the reason Chuck Schumer wasn’t consulted beforehand was that he would leak it to the press and alert the Iranians.

Those of you who seem upset that Democrats are not supporting the President: it doesn’t help to suggest that the Democrats are traitors.

It doesn't help when anybody suggests Congressional members or the POTUS are traitors but the last 2 years have been full of that exact talk. Always wrong.

Schumer has never given so much as a shred of reason to believe he would be a traitor. The same cannot be said about the POTUS

Oil prices went up 4%, per the BBC. Wide spread protests across Iran against the US.

I predict there will be assassination attempts on our people, maybe even the President. One of the reasons you don't engage in assassinations is that your enemy will usually respond in kind.

We've been assassinating terrorist leaders and flunkies for decades. The difference here is we picked on an entity that has more resources than the normal groups we go after.

Hell, we even assassinated one of our own citizens and his kid.
