LA is the greatest place on earth. live here for 6 months and then tell me how much it sucks compared to tenn.

I love LA and had a great time when I was there, but I agree with what most are saying about the people out there. The only reason I wouldn't want to live there is because of the people. Everyone I have met from California is extremely selfish and extremely rude.

Again, not all of you are like that I am sure, but there is a bigger majority of that in CA than in TN.

Oh and for you golfers, Cali has great courses. I will, before I leave Cali or die, play Pebble Beach.

Ok...Convince us, What is so great about LA?...Besides the over population, the unemployment the heavy polution and over 50% of the people who live there are NOT USA citizens and the fact that there are more gangs in the Los angles area than anywhere else on the face of the planet...Not to mention the homeless population is the highest in the USA....Other than that, what is so great about it....I'll hang up and listen :)

you forgot the smog and absolutely awful traffic...it's nice to live with the knowledge that pretty much any other part of the city is basically 45 minutes away.

the smog is unquestionably the most ridiculous argument that is constantly made. the air quality in los angeles is better than most metropolitan areas. 40 years ago sure it was horrible. these days it's a rare occurance.

Most of LA's beaches are way more commercialized/crowded/dirty than people think they are...as far as "greatest place on Earth" it's not even close

i've been to beaches all over the world. it's not hawaii or the carribean, but it certainly are not commercialized or dirty. i assume you have only been to venice beach?

L.a.< miami (south beach)

miami is a ****hole

L.A. beaches are crap. The best beaches are in Orange County or up in Ventura.

there isn't a single beach in ventura better than manhattan or hermosa. orange county is nice though.

The only reason I wouldn't want to live there is because of the people. Everyone I have met from California is extremely selfish and extremely rude.

ridiculous. i experience more than my fare share of a holes in tenn trust me. people are pretty much the same everywhere. the hollywood crowd in los angeles is a very small minority of the population. everyone else is just like you and i.

Part of why I said Monterrey...but that is nowhere near LA

There are nice courses around L.A. Angeles Golf Course is a Nicklaus course and it's nice. The Trump course south of L.A. is nice too. I played it not too long ago and had a blast but lost a ton of balls.

it's great if you have a job. i can't speak for those unemployed. the polution angle is just completely unfounded. LA is not any more dangerous than any other major city. the homeless are a problem, but if it really offends you just don't hang out in santa monice or venice.

The only thing I can say I like about the LA area is the mountians near the ocean....Now that is beautiful....That's about it.

I would love to spend time duck hunting up and down the coast of California. Other than that, I can't say I have much of a reason to go.

Lived in Monterey. It's worth the price of admission. LA, OTOH, was not at all.

I'm sure the wife will drag me out there once before I die. She really wants to go spend a week or two and travel all over the southern end of the state.

I found Santa Barbara to be very nice. Pricey, but nice. Also like the area of the Sacramento River delta.

Uh, look at the skyline once or twice...you can definitely see the clouds of smog there

First of all, Waikiki Beach in Hawaii fits that same description of an overrated, crowded, dirty beach. In general, the best beaches are the ones you haven't heard of because the big names are ruined by now. Most of LA's are either crowded, dirty, actually dangerous, or just (Muscle Beach) kinda weird. And no, my cousin lives in Santa Monica.

I don't necessarily agree with that, Tennessee may have just as many a-holes but not as many annoying idiots who think everyone in the world wakes up wishing to trade places with them

I'm pretty sure there's a massive smug alert for Los Angeles. It's not quite the size of the San Francisco one, though
