I love Tennessee as a state. I just don't understand the hatred for California.
People that have been here for a week or a weekend have no idea what California is like.

I have no problem with southern california. I do think that I should not have to send my tax dollars to help you rebuild if you lose your house to fire or earthquake or any of the other predictable problems that are coming to those who live there. Rodney king and riots are one of the largest memories to many of southern cal but as someone who thought about taking a job in la, the fact that it has a skyline less impressive than knoxville, traffic that makes you suicidal and smog that chokes are reasons I did not want to move.
Hard to say anything negative about san diego. Gorgeous place.
For a bankrupt state that sends some of the yuckiest politicians ever in power to dc, it
has given america one great politician I will always be grateful for.Posted via VolNation Mobile
That's okay. They also misspelled "hillbillies". (It is not "hillbilly's". We are talking about multiple people, not speaking of a singular hillbilly taking possession of something. I HATE when people misuse apostrophes. Makes 'em look ig-nint.)

My mom's side of the family pretty much all lives in California so I'm there a lot, and most people there in general are complete douches who think California is the center of the world and its people are better than all others everywhere (especially the South). For example, I was talking to a family "friend" that's a dentist from USC, and when I told him I was from Nashville his response was "Do they even have teeth in Tennessee?"
So I asked if their state had any straight people...
so you agree nashville and new orleans shouldn't get federal money then?
Are you guys serious?
That comeback was sweet if you are a complete idiot.
Nashville had floods that have not been that high since the white man moved to the Cumberland.
New Orleans should not get aid when they have another hurricane that destroys their city.
If your house burns down and it is a lightning strike that caused it, everyone should help you out.
If you live in a wax home that melts in the sun, no one should give you a dime to rebuild that candle and you should be required to use your money to rebuild in a manner that is not idiotic.
New Orleans since the river was dammed has been sinking without the silt and the city will not be there in 100 years absent absurd expenses. If you choose to live below a giant lake on one side and an ocean on the other, do not ask me for help when your house floods.
Californians complaining about earthquakes and asking for my money to rebuild are like people in Alaska (another federal welfare state) complaining about the cold. If your house is not designed to withstand earthquakes and you live in Southern California, you do not care about your safety.
Nashville yes, New Orleans no. Nashville isn't sitting well below flood plain with levees being the only thing that separates the citizens from muddy, wet death. The fact that the river came up higher then than ever before means that it wasn't really that predictable. Earthquakes in SC and a massive flood in NO were obviously going to happen.
