USC looking at Franklin to take head coach job

Do these rules apply to Fulmer when his only competition was Florida? Bama sucked, Georgia sucked, USC etc...just curious.

This x1000. Everyone acts like the SEC was dominating in the 90's to early 2000's. It was a two team league. Everyone finally wised up and hired good coaches and passed us by. Look at UT's record once Bama got off probation (even started while on probation), look at UT's record vs Richt, how many straight to AU etc. We dominated at a time when teams were down as so many on here like to say.

What he's done at VANDY is outstanding. Hell, I'd trade Vandys last 3 years for ours.

They have a good record, but damn they didn't play anyone worth a flip this year.

You're right that He's obviously a good coach, I'm just not sure how good. I'd like to see what he can do at SC.

Pete Carrol and Lane Kiffin think the criteria you stated is incorrect. Neither were brand names. Pete Carrol was down and out after getting bombed in the NFL, and Lane was an up and comer coming off 7 wins.

Pete Carrol was a former NFL coach, that fits as high profile in U$C's mind. Never understood the Kiffin hire, I think many at U$C want to avoid that type of "hot coach" hire again. I think that goes against the Vandy coach.

Name the 2 best teams he beat this year.

You're still talking about Vandy. This isn't UT, UF, UGA, Bama, LSU, or Auburn and their resources/budgets.

He's competing in the Daytona 500 driving a Prius. It doesn't matter if Jimmy Johnson and Jeff Gordon blew their engines on lap 31.

Petersen's out. This job is Franklin's if he wants it.

Wow!!! if this is true, I am surprised. I'm not saying Franklin is not a good coach either (F*** Him anyway), it just seems like there could be better out there.

He would be stupid to turn it down. He will never compete for the SEC no matter how much they improve.

Completely honest: USC would be making a mistake to take Sarkisian ahead of Franklin. Franklin's run at Vanderbilt is the best we may ever see there, short of a Saban or Meyer heading there for whatever reason. Sark has never topped 8 wins at Washington. For a program with four national titles, that's underwhelming.

I think they will give the job to Orgeron after they realize they can't get a big name coach. And Franklin isn't a big name coach especially on the West coast where he'd have to recruit.

I could see them making an offer to Gundy at Okla St. or maybe going to an NFL coach again.

Franklin is a douche, but he's a good coach. It's only a matter of time before he leaves Vandy. A place like USC the skies the limit, the same can't be said for Vandy.

Yes, his opting out of OSU and Northwestern was outstanding.

He's playing a numbers game hoping there is an AD out there with a big checkbook that holds your same foolish views.

Take off the orange shades guy. It'll be ok.

You realize its 2 straight losses to them, and should have been 3

I do realize that in your attempt to vindicate the "outstanding" title you have given Franklin, you keep wanting to bring up his efforts against a UT program that is at its lowest point in modern history.

Great angle there.
