USC looking at Franklin to take head coach job

I do realize that in your attempt to vindicate the "outstanding" title you have given Franklin, you keep wanting to bring up his efforts against a UT program that is at its lowest point in modern history.

Great angle there.

You can't get over the hate, I get it.

You realize its 2 straight losses to them, and should have been 3

Should've been 3? Uh, no. UT got the pick 6 and the win no matter what a dumbass ref saw 2 years ago. And you could say that UT should've won this year to make it 2 out of the last 3 and only 8 losses since 1950.

Again, Frank has done well compared to the other horrible coaches at Vandy. With that said, he's won 3 games against teams with winning records in 3 years. His best win is against a decimated 8-4 UGA team. His other wins are against 7-6 Ole Miss and 7-6 NC State who UT blew out with Dooley at the helm.

Their out of conference schedule has been embarrassing and they have dodged LSU and Bama the last 2 years. They got 4th place A & M this year and got blown out and 6th place Ole Miss and blew that one at home.

So, pump the brakes just a tad.

He's right, though.

If he stays with Vanderbilt, watch what happens next season. It'll look significantly different without Johnson's recruits.

He's recruited worlds better than BJ ever thought of. Matthews turned out to be a beast but it's telling that he had a total of ONE scholarship offer, not one D-1 offer, one offer period and that was Vandy. Either a lot of coaches missed badly or BJ got lucky.

You guys are awesome(and entertaining). Am I saying he's the greatest coach ever? NO

All I'm saying is that what he's done at Vandy is impressive.

impressive and outstanding are two different things. YOu didn't answer my first question. As USC, do you offer or even settle for Franklin? Is the first real name you air publicly (along with Petersen)?

I was never addressing you nor did I pay attention to your previous post, so I still have no idea what your asking. I don't care enough to look back.

I asked you two questions. Would you hire Franklin at USC and would you hire him at Tennessee. You bothered to answer the latter.

Mancrush on Franklin all you want, he's done what Fulmer did. He beat up on a bunch of down SEC teams, including Tennessee. He has no actual marquee wins, just enough to go bowling each year, thanks in large part to many of PJ's old recruits.

If my other candidates didn't accept I'd hire Franklin. Would it work out, who knows.

His recruiting classes are far superior to PJs.

P.S. Bowling at Vandy is good enough because that's not the norm

that has definitely yet to be proven.

You're easily entertained then. All I've said is look at the schedule and who he has beaten. Don't just look at the 8-4.

Has he done what other Vandy coaches couldn't and that is beat the bad to average teams and pick off the low hanging fruit? Sure. Getting to a bowl game is like winning the national title at Vandy because they rarely do it. I'm just saying it should've been happening a long time ago (especially with that horrid out of conference schedule) but the administration never really supported it. Now they finally have an admin that supports the program and they've allowed player exceptions to allow it to happen.

He's playing teams of their level.

I get out plenty. Thanks for your concern. I'm glad you care

They have played Elon, UCONN, Army, Wake Forest (x 3), UMASS (x 2), Presbyterian and Northwestern. What a killer's row there. Next year they play UAB, UMASS, Old Dominion and Charleston Southern. If that is teams of their level then they need to drop down to a mid-major conference. Hell, even Kansas St is blushing at that non-conference schedule.

They shouldn't be an SEC team. Wake Forest is a program I'd compare them to

And in the SEC, do you really need to play a "killers row" OOC? No

Franklin in the SEC:

2013: 4-4
2012: 5-3 (0-3 against ranked SEC teams)
2011: 2-6 (he beat Kentucky and Ole Miss)

yeah, he's a world beater.

Most fans would like to see one cupcake, one mid level team and a pretty good team back when there were 3 OOC games. Now it's 2 cupcakes, one mid level and one pretty good team. Vandy has played 1 decent OOC opponent in 3 years in Northwestern. The rest have been garbage. Next year is embarrassing, but guarantees them 4 wins. Only teams that are rebuilding should schedule like that in my opinion, but they are doing it to assure themselves of 4 wins.
